I have a Lite-On 166 DVD reader and a NEC 1300A DVD writer.

In CloneDVD, the Lite-on is faster to create a DVD image.

example, using the same DVD, all settings identical,

Lite-On 166 = 25:01 time to rip DVD to folder.
NEC 1300A = 30:52 time to rip DVD to folder.

I am very happy with the Lite-On for use with DVDs in CloneDVD

Now for my problem.

Ripping CDs in iTunes.

example, using the same CD, all settings identical,

Lite-On 166 = 5:54 to rip all tracks
NEC 1300A = 3:20 to rip all tracks

The NEC just kills the Lite-On in audio ripping, but is much slower in DVD ripping. I hate to keep using my writer to rip music, but the speed advantage is just to much to ignore.

I would like to get another DVD-ROM drive to replace the Lite-On. I have seen the new Lite-On 167 recommended, but I am concerned that its Audio CD ripping performance will be poor like the 166 I already have.

Are there any iTunes for Windows users in this forum that can offer a suggestion on which DVD-ROM drive seems to be the best for audio extraction?

If not, does anyone know of another forum where I might find some help?
