Looking to buy new pc speakers

Hi,

I need to buy new speakers. I've checked all the settings and have the sound up as far as it can go so that I hear "noise/buzzing" but when I'm watching a movie that's on my hdd, the volume is normal and I still hear the "noise/buzzing." There were a few times that they were blasted as loud as they could go and I think I ruined something inside them. This is the info about my mobo:

Quote:
Biostar TForce6100-939 NVIDIA Socket 939 MicroATX Motherboard
The TForce 6100-939 delivers great graphics and amazing multimedia capability. This stellar motherboard supports dual-channel memory, DDR400 up to 4GB, PCI Express 16x, PCI Express 1x, SATA, NVIDIA GeForce 6100 GPU video, 5.1-channel audio and fast Ethernet LAN.
- Chipset: NVIDIA GeForce 6100
- Front Side Bus: 2000MHz
I'm not looking for outrageious and I don't do gaming, so I'm looking to spend around $125.00 for a decent pair. I just want to watch movies where the audio is loud enough without other noise, and there won't be anymore blasting. Right now, I have 2 desktop speakers. They're connected by an non-removable wire, and one of the speakers has a cable that connects to a port on the back panel. That speaker also has the controls on it . . . bass, on/off, and volume, and that's good enough for me because I have AC97 that gives me a lot of options.

Can someone help me out here? If you need more info, please let me know.

Denise

I've been very happy with a couple different sets of JBL. I believe some models are also sold under the Harmon Kardon brand. THESE sound terrific, an excellent value.
