LG CED-8120B CD RW Drive not detected at Boot - HELP!

I've swapped the mobo from a Compaq Presario 5146 EA with an ASUS A7N8X-VM and replaced the CPU and memory accordingly - the rest of the hardware was reused - Pioneer 106 DVD RW, LG CD RW, HD, PSU case etc.

On boot with the new mobo, the Pioneer's detected correctly as Master (jumper set to Cable Select), but the LG's not (jumper set to CS). I've tried manually setting the jumpers to MA & SL using both configurations, but no change. Changed cable, no change. I also changed the BIOS from AUTO to CDROM, but at Boot, it said that it wasn't an ATAPI device.

I had the old LG DRD-8120B DVD ROM drive that I replaced with the Pioneer so I swapped it with the LG CD and it was detected.

Is this a BIOS problem with either the mobo or the CD RW??

Thanks,
David.

I've tried the CD RW in another Compaq - Deskpro EN at work at it was detected. I upgrated the firmware to v2.0 while I was at it - but it stilll wasn't dtetected by the Asus afterwards.

Any ideas anyone???

Have you tried updating the mobo BIOS?

Can you place the CDRW as slave on the first IDE channel?

Just a Tip

Just a Tip:

When you replace a motherboard or CPU it's like the computer getting a new skeleton and brain so it would be wise to do a reinstallation of Windows just to be on the safe side.
