CRT Monitor won't power save

Hi,

I have just built a new MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum system with an Athlon 64 3500+ processor and an MSI X300 SE PCI-E video card.

This is attached to a Sony Multiscan E540 CRT monitor.

I am running Windows XP Pro, SP 2 (clean install) on this system.

The problem I am having is this:

The screensaver works as designed but the monitor will not go into power save mode.

To turn off the monitor I have to manually push the button (or completely shut down the system).

Strangely enough my current system will power down an old spare Nokia monitor that I have and my Sony E540 monitor used to power down properly on my retired MSI Athlon XP system.

Does anyone have any ideas on what is going on and how I can enable the power save mode on my Sony E540 monitor?

Thanks,

Bob Shem
