If you are referring to Automatic Voltage Regulators, this is just a premium feature of UPS (uninterruptible power system).

Let's say that it is an very old model... with only two output switch
without telephone line or ethernet protection.

If instead of asking a general question, you have a specific older model in mind, I suggest that you do a little checking for yourself.
