Graphics card problem.

Since trying unbuntu my PC isn't capable of loading the graphics card correctly.
This is probably a coincidence, I guess.
In device manager it says This device cannot start. (Code 10)
What does this mean?
Is this PSU related?
Any cures welcome.
At one stage it said something about device already in memory.
Intel board X38
Q6600
ATI 3870 X 1.
Thanks

BTW Using Vista Ultimate 64 bit.
Tried uninstalling & rebootinng.
Checked for solutions via device manager too.

Maybe you should look at M$ link here and see what it tells you more.

Are you sure your video card is still working???

Have already looked there.
Thanks.
Problem is that it refers to XP, not Vista.
I have made some headway, in that the picture is no longer corrupt as it was.
But the hardware acceleration doesn't appear to work.
The WEI is one.
Is it possible that ubuntu could kill a card?

Re: Graphics card problem.

If your drivers are corrupt, uninstalling/rebooting will only reinstall the corrupt drivers.
I would uninstall the video drivers, then use a driver cleaner to clean any remnants and then reinstall the video card in the normal way.

Driver Cleaner is what I have used but it's not Vista compatible (free version).
Try this one, it's from a reputable site and it's Vista compatible :

Re: Graphics card problem.

Be sure to review the instructions carefully and set a Restore Point before using the cleaner.

Good hunting.

Re: Graphics card problem.

Just to let you know there was a fault with the card.
It has been sent back now.
Just waiting to see if it's repaired or replaced.
