VSO can't recognize converted srt file

I've got an old avi with only a sub but not the idx file. I can watch the movie in XP without any problem but the subtitle disappeared when convert to dvd with VSO. I was told this problem can be fixed by converting the sub to srt with Subtitle Workshop (by loading the sub file in the program and save as subrip, i.e. srt). The converted srt file can be played in xp but again the subtitle disappeared when the avi was converted to DVD wth VSO. I just wonder whether I'd done anything wrong in converting the sub to srt. Actually, I'd opened the srt file in Notepad and be able to read the text. Can anyone give me a hand on this? Thanks in advance.

Re: VSO can't recognize converted srt file

There's been quite a few threads on this. Download the latest version from the VSO ftp site and try that. There were some major sub fixes put into it. If you still have the problem and haven't forgotten to enable the subs on your DVD player, then post your conversion log here so people can look at it.

Re: VSO can't recognize converted srt file

I'm already using the latest version of VSO, i.e. 2.013. Regarding turning on subtitle in the DVD player, this is simply impossible. I use to test the converted file in MediaPlayer and PowerDVD before burning it into DVD. However, the subtitle option in both programs were greyed out... an indication that no recognized subtitle was found.

Below is the log file of a test conversion. I'd aborted the conversion after a few minutes to test whether the subtitle is alright or not. It seems that VSO had found the srt file but the subtitle did not show up in the player:

Re: VSO can't recognize converted srt file

if you are still having problems attach your sub and srt files here. you might have errors in them although this is unlikely.

also let your conversion go on for a bit longer. the subs might not have kicked in yet

Re: VSO can't recognize converted srt file

Subs are not showing on preview.
And information about subs is written to ifos, so let conversion finish before testing.
Include full log of last conversion, including version info.
