VBR mp3 audio causing problems?

Ever since I downloaded the latest version (2.1.0.148), I am having trouble converting files that have VBR mp3 audio. I know this is the problem, because I open the file in VirtualDub and it tells me that because it is VBR the A/V may be out of sync, blah blah blah.

The workaround I have for the problem is to rebuild the file using CBR mp3 encoding. This is a bit of a pain, seeing as ConvertX never had trouble with these files in the last version.

Hopefully there will be a fix coming soon.

Re: VBR mp3 audio causing problems?

Sorry but just converted 4400 s3e7, it also has VBR audio and there was no problems what so ever.

Your log shows that no data produced from stream #0 - that is video.
Check your codecs.

Re: VBR mp3 audio causing problems?

I have learned just to stick with Constant Bit Rate MP3's - either 160 or 192 when I create 'em myself, depending on if I use Fast Fraunhoffer or Lame, respectively.

VBR freaked out my hardware MP3 players when they first came out, so I just stuck with Constant and have had no trouble at all since then. Same thing with iPhoto over on the Mac, if I remember right.

Re: VBR mp3 audio causing problems?

While that may be true, Stream#0 is video, I simply used direct stream copy for the video when I converted using VirtualDub.

It seems to be just certain files... I just converted 3x7 myself and it worked fine. 3x3,5 and 6 gave that error.

I found another way to circumvent the problem... use winavi. I don't like not having more options as far as final size, but it works.
