Use BlindWrite 4.25

Search the forum for BlindWrite 4.25 or see if you can download from their website. Most of those making backups of this latest SecuROM 4x are using this version as it has the check bwa file if available in the write option. Be sure to make 2 discs, an install disc (without bwa file) and a play disc (with bwa file).

If Hitman2 is SecuROM 4.8x protected, it's safe to create 2 discs.
The "play" disc" may not install so this is why a "install" disc is created. Some roms& writers bypass the twin sectors on the cd protection, some don't.

yeah but the purpose is to do as close to 1/1 as possible there for ruleing out the possability of a 2nd install disk

if your getting that problem you should consider updateing your drives as the new drives that are out will not suffer this problem ...

though what ever tickles your fanncy

Your theory contradicts what the BlindWrite insists when backing up SecuROM 4.8.x. The purpose of creating a "install" disc (without bwa) file is in the case of install errors reguardless if your drive(s) can bypass the twin sector cd protection. Suppose graf has a 2nd pc at home ot at his office? I have a secondary pc and I had to create an install disc because my Toshiba SD-M1502& LG GCE 0824b couldn't get around the twin sector scheme. It is safe when backing up SecuROM 4.8.x to create a "play disc& install disc" graf can successfully backup the game but wil he be able to install if he considers a newer pc down the road?

your theory is correct !> though somewhat most people want 1/1 your way is the safe way.... your way is for people that know what drives can and cant read sectors correctly.... but for the experts that only require or to get close to 1/1 can do it with out the need for a 2nd install disk thats what i was talking about .......

needless to say my way is without the 2nd install disk becuse i know i will be useing the games on reliable sector readers though for others that will be useing it on both types then i would say this is a good way of doing things..

though you can if you want just use 1/1 disk and when you run into a game that wont install all you do is copy your version with nero or some other burning program that wont use the bwa file ....
then it will work.....

Virus,
Many people in this world own 2 pc's and I don't recommend them buying another rom/writer just to install a pc game m8. If I followed your way then I couldn't have installed UT 2003 on my 2nd pc. Besides, making an "install" disc cost about 10 cents (US currency), so why not create 1 to be on the safe side in the future?

So are you all saying that you can't use a BWA file with the latest version of Blindwrite?

I thought it was automatic now. If there is a BWA file in the same folder as the image, then Blindwrite will use it, or at least that is what I understood from the main page of their site that lists the changes to the new version.

Many forum members had success using BlindWrite 4.25 for SecuROm 4.8.x. So take the advice and use that version m8.
You WON'T find the "check enable bwa file if available" on the latest BlindWrite release, but you WILL using BlindWrite 4.25. You can download bwa files for specific game titles at the BlindWrite forum.

Ok, but I am still confused. I know the 4.25.version HAS the check box, but the latest does not. Since there is no check box in the latest, how do you use a BWA file?

I have no problems using 4.25, just trying to understand how you would use a BWA with 4.28.

Thanks.

Basically the latest BlindWrite release(s) integrates the image file, bwa file in the write process. After you load the image you're going to burn, look up and you'll see the 3 BlindWrite extension files the program will write. This is why the latest releases have been "unstable", but I can't speak for the latest release because I have yet to test.
