Thick Green line when encoding certain files..

heres something ive tried recently and am wondering if its a known issue (so many thread to sift thru to find if its been asked here already-sorry if so)

i have 3 avis and a mpg and i want to make a dvd..maybe 3 gigs or so...
i normally dont have issues when making a dvd but usually there all avis...
for some reason when adding a mpg to the mix final outcome is all messy and doesnt play properly..also a thick green line is on the menu on the bottom,etc...
is this known already and if so is it because of a differant file type??
i havent tested these files yet without the mpg but its the only thing i can think of...
ill try again later tonight buts its gonna take awhile..

also take note that no error occurs during encoding or anything...
also for a test il converted this mpg to divx so ill try the conversion again with the 3 avis and this divx..if it happens again ill convert the mpg to avi to see if that will work..if not ill update post with results..(ill also update post if it works..)
