| Profiles for BW5 Here are some unofficial profiles for BW5 Download I made them theoretical , and since we all know theres a differense between theory and practise, they may not work. But feel free to try them out ![]() For some games to work, you'll need to install BW5Tweaker v1.5.5 which you'll find here Just post any feedback you might have

| Thanks, genjai for your work But I miss the "Tages"-profile... ![]() (***I was joking***) Remembering what Lapinou wrote on 01-12-03: we did tages support since years ( motoracer 3 ) but it is not available to the public. we let clonecd does it, as they are the best I still hope the reading engine for Tages will once be published. ![]() |

| Tanith He/she has been provided with a "custom user title" as is the custom with authors, developers, spammers, industry employees, general nuisances, idiots, complete fools and 'interesting' members. He/she claims to be a Tages Protection employee hence the custom user title. We don't dislike protectionists, in fact AtomicX as an example is a very welcome member here, but we dislike teasing and secrecy above all. Our logs show that employees from all walks of life, including Macrovison and Securom, visit here. Don't make a big deal out of it as I know you won't. Circumspect comments and questions are OK and are a part of forum life - it makes things interesting, doesn't it ![]()

| Hello Genjai, Do you know how we could still do the complete topology dump. VSO seems to have introduced a new "Fast Topology dump" which restrict the range [0..120000] 13/03/2004 3:21:40 PM info BWT 5 file contains topology data: Quality 100% 13/03/2004 3:21:40 PM info Topology extraction completed in 01:18 13/03/2004 3:21:40 PM info Topology extracted. Quality 100% 13/03/2004 3:20:22 PM info Fast Topology: Max speed selected, x40 returned by device 13/03/2004 3:20:22 PM info New fast topology method used. (Normally i was doing 0..250000) ======= Yesterday, I even tried with TopologyMethod=1, and the range wasn't better and i also had few "hicups"... 13/03/2004 3:53:37 PM warning Topology extraction failed 13/03/2004 3:53:37 PM error Slow Topology method has failed. | @kalas [TopologyMethod] -1 = Automatic (default=FAST Topology) 0 = *New* FAST topology (NO speed control) 1 = *New* SLOW topology (WITH speed control) The New SLOW topology doesn't seems to work over all drives or it's bogus!! Example: ----------- error Slow Topology method has failed. Try another method error Topology: Exception Message (RefSector) above last sector (C:\Workplace\BW5\U_BW5ReadEngine.pas, line 2023) (So it's risky to use it into securom default profile..) Also, neither method allow to setup a topology extraction range. (It's seems to be always 0..120000) So for now on, i will use the standalone BWA Builder! |

| thanks for your quick reply weebertrix, I'm a little bit confused now So there are no standard parameters for the BW5 profiles, for example 'subfordata=0' I thought that reading the subchannels for data is disabled. In this case you can't compare it with '0 = *New* FAST topology (NO speed control)' it's not disableing something it sets another speed. I hope I described my problem that you got my point. If not ask me ![]() |

| @kalas The new "fast topology" set the range/speed automaticly. (The user doesnt have any control on this behavior) The new "slow topology" let you to specify a speed (example : topologyspeed=1411) but not a range !! === subdata extraction has nothing to with topology extraction. (please do not confuse different type of extraction) Quote:

| @alpha011 It's a new "extraction way" implemented with the newer blindwrite 5.1.x versions.. If you dont like it, presently there's only two choice : ----------------------------------------------------------------- - Rollback to previous blindwrite 5.0.x versions - Use standalone bwa builder with tweaker... (this is what im currently doing) => I already complained about this to VSO ! (They said the Fast topology is more "compatible" than the older technique and that's why they implemented it...) (But, sadly they are removing half of the topology density peaks information) (Current Securom implementation maybe doesn't look RIGHT NOW at the second density part, but any software patch updates could change this behavior..) | @genjai Well, This new "SLOW TOPOLOGY" option is undocumented, and only part of your newer profiles ![]() (not even bwtweaker support it!!) So if not too much people using your profiles (or maybe only using older ones) almost nobody could possibly notice it.. Quote:

| Made two profiles just for SafeDisc 2-3.15 Download tested them with the following games: (reading and burning with plextor premium fw 1.05) Battlefield Vietnam Battlefield 1942 + all Add Ons Rainbow Six Raven Shield + Athena Sword Add On Crazy Taxi 3 IL 2 Forgotten Battles + Ace Expansion Pack LOTR Return of the King They are all tested on a 'clean machine', so no emulation running and they worked fine. Hopefully they will also work for you, if not sorry about that ![]() p.s. AD=autoplay disabled, your idea genjai ![]() |

| Thanks for the profiles kalas, i'll test them out. One thing though - i use a liteon drive to backup safedisc and I know that in the past "enhance weak sectors" has not been required, but every profile i see has this option enabled. Is it still not necessary for liteon drives with the latest safedisc versions, or is it now needed to make a successful backup with a liteon? I have been unable to make a successful backup of PoP with a ltr-48125w but have always had "enhance weak sectors" off. Thanks ![]() |

| I attempted to backup BF Vietnam today, and got some results that I thought I would share with you all. Using Blindwrite 5.1.6.132, a Toshiba DVD reader, and an Asus 1610a burner, I made a backup copy of BFV using Genjai's profiles. I used a Verbatim CDRW first. This disc did not work in my Toshiba or Liteon 166 DVD drives. Then I burned a Memorex CDR which was actually a CMC Magnetics disc. This CD would work on the Toshiba, but not on the Liteon, or my Pioneer DVR-106. Next, I had another "generic" CMC Magnetics CDR (got 100 for free). This disc would not play on and DVD or CDR drive. I am kinda bumming out that I have 200 CMC discs here now, but the price was REAL cheap. So, I think that your CDR media is a factor also in your backing up success. My next step is to get some good qualiry media and see if I can make a disc that works in all my readers.
