Problems with .avs files

Hi. I'm having trouble converting .avs files in convertxtodvd. I get Discontinuity errors in the log when I'm converting. So I went to options and audio. Unchecked "Don't check/fix audio discontinuities" and it converts fine. But the only thing is, is that when I'm converting, the bar at the bottom does not move at all during the whole convert. And the percentage completion stays at 0.0% the whole time too. I'm also having no voices problems when I play the dvd in my dvd player. I tried it on my computer and it works fine.

Here's a screenshot of the log:

Re: Problems with .avs files

hello
Which ConvertXToDVD version do you use ?
Could you provide the complete log of this conversion ?
Did you change some default options in ConvertxToDVD ?

Best regards,

Hi. Thanks for replying. I'm using the latest version of convertxtodvd. 2.2.2 I believe. How would I go about showing the complete log? That's the best I could do for now, it gives me that error message repeatedly so there's like a million lines to show. I don't think I changed some of the default options, I think I left them as is.

Ok I found out how. Not all of it fits though. I hope you just need the first part, if not let me know.

Re: Problems with .avs files

I'll try to get the file in order to make some tests...
did the audio stream play at normal speed, without any gaps or problems ?

best regards,

Re: Problems with .avs files

how did you get .avs files ?
I got the movie from the torrent... This movie is in 2 parts. each file is an xvid avi movie file.
Did you join the files in order to have a big one ?

I used fitcd to add overscan blocks to the movie and get the avs files. That's why I'm using .avs files.. to get around the overscan(just hoping v3 will have the option to not use overscan).

I did join them into one big file. But the log I posted was just the first cd so it wouldn't take a long time to encode.

Re: Problems with .avs files

The log you post seems to be the encoding of the whole movie :

tell me precisely how you get avs file. I would like to get the same files as yours, in order to make some testings.
I've tried to convert the first part of the movie, without any problems.. I did not have any error.

Re: Problems with .avs files

Hi,

AVS Scripts has been an issue for a long time know.

Let's look at a few (STILL OPENED) VSO Bugs:

http://bugs.vso-software.fr/view.php?id=398

Comment by the developpers:

Quote:
Bad timing issue - the AVS file is sent to convertx without proper timing - this create the discontinuity warnings.

http://bugs.vso-software.fr/view.php?id=605

Comment by the developpers:

Quote:
VSO ConvertXtoDVD has many bugs when it comes to using AviSynth Script.
* First is the progress bar does not work, second it ignores the bitrate
setting in (Settings -> Encoding).
* Also there are many minor video encoding bug's when it comes to output quality.
So there's still some work to be done on ConvertXtoDVD to fully support .AVS Scripts.

Re: Problems with .avs files

cougar - thanks for letting me know at least I know it's not just me now. I guess I'll just have to live with overscan for now if I can't get this to work. Do you know if the option to use overscan or not will ever be added in later on?

fonzzie - You're right it was the full movie from the log I posted. I'm just messing around with programs now using only the first cd to speed up encoding a bit. I'm using fitcd. Clicking on source and finding the right avi file. Unchecking the PAL boxes. And setting the destination to DVD 720. Then adding 2 blocks for overscan. Then save script at bottom right. And I load that .avs script into convertxtodvd.
