problem with ntsc to pal

hi all am new to vso convertxtodvd but up to now been very happy with results
all my converts so far have been avi files either 25fps or 23fps and i wanted them in vob pal and it did them the odd shudder or jerk now and then but nothing i couldnt live with.....but i have a few files that are 29fps and when i try to convert them.
it is keeping the resulting vob files as 29fps even though the log shows pal 25fps output format set by user.
some help would be great

Re: problem with ntsc to pal

Hi there,

Always provide us a full conversion log.

Theres tons of information in there.

I have not converted .VOB yet but logs should tell us much more.

Latest version is v2.0.12.126c

Hi there,

Based on this log, everything looks normal.

Now those ENGINE: rc buffer underflow are just engine messages for the VSO Programmers, I guess they are normal, but you have a lot, maybe means something like low memory, or to many frames processed who knows

What is the media id of your blanks DVDs ?
Media ID can be found in the burn logs.

You are sure those .vob are 29fps and not 25fps ?

You are sure it's not a playback issue based on cheap media and/or burned too fast ?

Thanks for the logs, I'm sure someone else will come up with an idea !

Just relooked at the logs

I don't recall seeing framerate: before, maybe this file is weird

You usually see just this:

5/26/2006 7:39:19 PM info Video source original frame rate: 23.98
5/26/2006 7:39:19 PM info NTSC 29.97 FPS output format set by user
My 2 cents...

Re: problem with ntsc to pal

its a avi file avicodec shows it at 29.xxx frames i want it in pal 25fps i havent even bothered burning as after its converted i check the vob files for frame rate and avicodec is still showing them as 29.xxx fps i dont understand what the problem is. anything i convert that is 29fps is staying at 29fps if i convert an avi file that is either 23fps or 25fps then it converts to 25fps vob files without a problem.
hope someone can help also i converted another file straight after i did the one withe the log above and that is fine and i only had one instance of rc buffer underflow

Re: problem with ntsc to pal

Confirm. I tried converting NTSC vob to PAL - result is PAL size 720*572 but framerate is 29.97.

Reporting this as bug.

Re: problem with ntsc to pal

well if its a bug guess no work around until its fixed in new version.
but i will state again as i see ppl saying ntsc vob and i must be missing something or i am misunderstanding the files i start with are avi and not vob.
the end result are vob sorry if that is what is being stated but just clearing it up.
because if it is a bug i would like to see if it is fixable in the not to distant future or i may as well bin the files

Re: problem with ntsc to pal

On the newest version of ConvertXtodVd

I also am suddenly getting BUFFER UNDERFLOW messages,, many of them as seen in above log.

but on converting AVI to DVD
never saw this error before

the DVD seems ok, but does not seem to be the full quality that I would expect normally. (visually)..

restarted the app, it still does the same on that AVI video.

as for the comment about "Framerate not being seen before" above.
Framerate is a normal line -> it's always been in the log.
put simple: on framerate for DVD -> PAL is 25.. NTSC is 29.xx
