Problem Burning with CopytoDVD

I have tried to make a backup using dvd shrink and copytodvd on dvd+r. The dvd shrink created the files fine(they will play in windvd). I try to burn them in copytodvd using a new Video DVD project and I get a burnt dvd that is not recognized even by the burner that just burnt it. I am using version 2.3.10 of copydvd and windows xp pro.

I am sure the media is good. I have burned successful backups using dvdxcopy express. Copytodvd is currently set to burn at max speed, which for my burner would be 4X. What would you suggest trying it at 1X, 2X? Also I see that there is a new build of copytodvd out there. Should I try it?

thanks

Still unreadable

I tried the new version of copytodvd and tried burning at 2x and the dvd still cannot be read by the drive that just burned it. It burnt a dvd +rw fine. It will play in the drive, but the dvd +r will not. Anymore suggestions?

Djperry,

Did you ever get this issue solved ? also what is your burner and can you post the error log ? it is located in my computer , c drive , program files, vso folder, and then copy2dvd folder. The file is C2CD.log. Also have you update firmware on your drive ?

Still can't burn DVD+R

I will check for firmware upgrade. My drive is HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GCA-4040N. I am running windows XP Pro. P4 3.06 with 1 gig of RAM. DVD+RW burns fine. DVD+R can't be read by the drive that just burnt it.

Here is the log.

Well with your drive i would call LG electronics and ask about the firmware before i would do it . I have searched and searched and cant find anything on that drive.

OEMs like HP, sometimes ask for altered code in the chipset (modified HW string for example). In this way, they can determine if the unit has been replaced or altered in some way before providing tech spt or warranty action. IF you flash, you may void the opportunity for any further support on the unit.

HP

You are correct. It is an HP oem unit. I should have said that originally. Are you reasonably sure that the firmware is the problem? Are there any other possible solutions?

It's not unknown for drives to be 'buggy' in combination with an app. I would try another app first. My Firmware upgrades are simply media catalogue updates do you could try manufacturer recommended media.

SAME ISSUE

I have read all the following thread. I am having exactly the same problem as listed above. I am using a very similar system, ADVENT 7037, P4 3.06Ghz, 512Mb RAM, Windows XP. The only difference (only a slight one) is the model number for the writer. HL-DT-ST-DVD-RW GWA-4040N.
I have to say that I am very new to all this dvd backing up and really could do with all the help you have to offer. But its reassuring to see that Im not the only one. I just hope that this problem can be fixed.
I am using copytodvd version 2.3.12.239, with a copytodvd manager version 2.3.10.3
I'm using Packard Bell DVD +R, 2.4X. I am writing at 2.4X. The write is capable of 4X
Please please say that this problem is resolvable.
