Need help with blindwrite 5.1.6 Hi evrybody! This is my first post and i'd like to start by thanking u guys for all the great info! Especially the admins and others who spend so much time helping others and makin tutes etc. You are appreciated very much by many I know. I hate playing w/ my original discs (especially when my lil cousins w/ their greasy, grubby hands are over at my place)- and u guys take my headaches away!! ur awesome Heres the deal- some detailed help would be great. Ive tried the search already (for a looong time) but couldnt find answers to my questions.Im tryin to see if i can backup couple of my new 4.8x and 5.x securom games. I have plex premium fw 1.05. Using Blindwrite 5.1.6 with tweaker 1.5.6 along with alcohol 1.4.8.122. Just tryin out these two softs so im not that familiar with either, so again details in any replies would make me love u First with alcohol, I went to options -->General and unchecked the autoplay feature. Clicked on emulation and uncheck rmps function. Then went to data type setting for securom new 4.x 5.x , set reading speed max to 4x and also made sure burn rmps was unchecked (even tho im not usin alcohol to burn figured might as well). Then i read it selecting securom new 4.x 5.x with the dpm set to 4x. After the read i converted the alcohol dpm to a bwa and clicked on to clean the curve and saved it. Then i started the tweaker. On Basic: Unchecked Include auto play info, set write speed to 4x, and the start page to write. On topology: Clicked on Write with plex premium and browsed and selected my bwa file. On advanced: Clicked browse and selected my image alcohol made. Then clicked run blindwrite and burned it. Heres that log: ******************** Report session closed ********************* 5/2/2004 7:37:44 AM info Writing completed in 09:50 5/2/2004 7:37:34 AM info Finalize started 5/2/2004 7:27:57 AM info Write started 5/2/2004 7:27:57 AM info Buffer Under-run protection is enabled 5/2/2004 7:27:57 AM info SAO RAW RW writing mode selected 5/2/2004 7:27:57 AM info Writing speed required x8, effective x8 5/2/2004 7:27:53 AM info DAO writing mode preferred 5/2/2004 7:27:53 AM info Media topology will be reproduced by Varirate 5/2/2004 7:27:53 AM info Writing CD-ROM Disc [Unreal2 Play CD] - Image Size 755 Mb. 5/2/2004 7:27:53 AM info Writing device : 1:0:0 - PLEXTOR CD-R PREMIUM 1.05 [E] (Ide) 5/2/2004 7:27:53 AM info Imported file format - BwaBuilder (BWA) - Quality 100% 5/2/2004 7:27:50 AM info Imported file format - Alcohol 5/2/2004 7:27:50 AM info Launched with external parameters 5/2/2004 7:27:50 AM info Using Patin-Couffin driver Version 1.21, Internal revision 21 5/2/2004 7:27:50 AM info Autoplay driver active. Couple of things about the log bother me though: 1)Why does it say Autoplay driver active if i disabled it with tweaker, or maybe that line in log doesnt really mean its buring the autoplay? and 2) Why the heck did it select SAO RAW RW as the writing mode ive heard SAO is an inferior writing mode compared to DAO. How can i make it burn in DAO PW? Isnt that what i want? Any other mistakes i may have made for settings etc. please comment! ![]() Sorry one more quick question: I also have a Liteon LTD163 DVD drive, fw GH4S. Is this a better reader than the premium? Ive heard its a good one. Should i be using it for reading images and/or bwas? Should i upgrade its fw? Last edited by RoscoeMcGurk; 02-05-2004 at 21:33.

First off, welcome to the forum Using a plextor premium you can create an (almost) perfect backup with blindwrite 5. There is no real need to use alcohol since blindwrite will do the job by itself: First step, download the profiles in the thread entitled "Profiles for BW5" unzip them and use the "Securom 4.8 PP" profile (for use with the plextor premium only). Simply copy this file into the profiles folder in your blindwrite install folder and its ready for you to use. Second step, fire up blindwrite and select the Securom 4.8 PP profile from the drop down list. Then read the image using blindwrite. Next switch to write mode and burn the image onto a cd-r. You should now have a near perfect backup of a securom protected game! As for the autoplay message, even though you might not have used autoplay with that particular disc when backing up your game, the autoplay filter will still be running in the background as long as blindwrite is installed and so that is what is showing up in your log file. Hope this helps ![]()

| Hi, thx for the reply. I tried using bw with the tweaker only. I get the message in the log: Drive not ready to extract will try again in few seconds (using the premium as reader). Then the reading fails with message: Extraction failed. I tried several different settings with the tweaker and always the same. Thats why i opted to read with alcohol. Ive read of others doing it this way with great success, although i think they could write in DAO and i cant for some reason. If you could tell me what i may be doing wrong trying to read with blindwrite, or if not, can u or sum1 else please answer my previous questions? Thx for answering that autoplay thing tho CD 1986! Now i know autplay isnt being written. Other info would be appreciated very much! Thx evry1 btw i DID try using the profiles, i always get the extraction failed message- Also in my log in the first post should it say varirate? I thought it was varirec, same thing? heres my log w/ the profiles 5/2/2004 12:45:41 PM info ******************** Report session closed ********************* 5/2/2004 12:44:42 PM error Extraction failed 5/2/2004 12:44:42 PM error Drive is not ready to extract. | First off have you tried re-installing blindwrite; also a good idea might be to download the stand alone autoplay driver and re-install it manually. Also make sure that you dont have any other software running in the background that might be trying to access your cd drive - that is a common reason for your particular error. If all else fails try an earlier version of blindwrite, see if that makes any difference. |

CD 1986, thx for the info. Actually i had tried a different version was 5.0.x i think, before with my plex 20/10/40a, was gettin same thing. Then when i bought my premium, tried newer version, reformatted my HDD, and still same thing! Different version, different burner, newly formatted HDD, so what can i do? I also tried uninstalling my mcafee, went to control panel and services, and stopped EVERY one that would let me ( i use win2k as u can tell from the logs). This is also with no other applications running, and no other burn apps even installed Like i said, it works w/ the alcohol and bw combo except for the SAO writing thing. Can anyone help me with this AND the other questions i have?? I been lookin on forums for hours and hours, narrowing searches with AND, and everything. Please i need info, FFEEEEDD mee!!!! I will luv u and have hot women feed u grapes and fan u, and be ur slaves! lol no offense to any women, im j/k u know ![]() lil update-i tried disconnecting my other drives to make sure there was no conflict, no luck. BTW after the extraction fails and im back to the bw main screen, it says "no media inserted" until i restart bw and eject/reinsert the CD. Heres more detailed sys specs on my burning comp if it helps: Win2k svc pack 4 w/ aspi 4.60 (1021) Asus TUSL2 pIII 1.13 Ghz, 512Mb ram pc133 plex premium 1.05 fw, liteon ltd 163 GH4S fw, and Acer 56x seagate 36G scsi 10k HDD w/ Adaptec 29160 w/latest drivers SB Audigy w/latest drivers nvidia Geforce2GTS 64mb w/latest drivers from nvidia 3com 3c905c net card w/latest drivers Last edited by RoscoeMcGurk; 03-05-2004 at 00:15.

Seems more likely therefore to be a conflict with your system, rather than with software. What are your system specs like....things like the nforce ide drivers cause massive problems and conflicts with burning software. Have you tried turning off the native cd burning engine in windows? That is also known to cause problems. Even using poor ide cables can have an adverse affect. I'm being spurred on bt the thought of beautiful women feeding me grapes....watch as my suggestions get more and more fanciful! ![]()

taaahahahha Thx for your reply again CD 1986, but do u know about any of the other questions ive asked too? As i said, i been lookin around ALOT and not finding my answers, or any1 else? EVEN if u know answer to just ONE of my questions, please post! As far as your reply: a) I didnt think win2k had a native burn app, only XP? Like i said, i turned off everything i could in services, and i didnt see anything about a native burn app in win2k. btw i turned off nvidias little helper app in services too b)I can try a different ide cable, but im having no trouble when burning with other apps, doesnt that exclude the premium and the ide cable from being the problem? c)I can extract no problem when using bwa builder standalone or with alcohol? Im not a complete noob, and this one is kickin my ass!! Help!!! lol tried switching the premium from secondary master to primary master w/ no other drives installed and with a different ide cable, still same extract error always Last edited by RoscoeMcGurk; 03-05-2004 at 00:58.

Well I dont know, tried everything i could think of to make bw work with my win2k. I took and old 6gb HDD and loaded my old win98 on it. Now it works, and i can backup securom 4.85x no problem, fully works in many drives. No emulation whatsoever. I dont know, bw doesnt seem to like win2k on my system, like i said, other apps work fine though. Perhaps because my win2k HDD is scsi w/ the 29160 card- maybe some aspi, win2k, patin conflict? I think i also know why i couldnt write DAO PW before, cause alcohol wasnt getting the PW code on the read. DOH! I shoulda thought of that sooner. Anyway thx for your help CD 1986, i do really appreciate it. Your sexy women lovers are in the mail (please allow 6-8 weeks) delivery) ![]()

Re: Need help with blindwrite 5.1.6 No wonder it wouldn't work on my win2k. I tried ALOT of stuff and just wouldn't do it, unless I used win98. Thanks for the info 1986! You dah man!! Maybe I'll try the new one on my 2k drive just to see if it works.
