| Hey all. I've been reading everyone's replies to my original post and learned some useful info from you people. My situation is that I have tried a few ways to copy the Unreal 2 Play disk. It seems that the ways listed above all work for me, however I am only able to play the disk in my Liteon writer. When I try to play it in my Matshita CR593 cdrom two things happened....either I got a message saying "insert play disk", or the common thing that happens - the cd just spins around, I hear some weird noises and the game won't start up. But I put the same cd in the liteon and it works without any problems...no crack needed. Anyone know why this might be happening? My second ? is is there copy protection on the U2 Install cd? Because I copied it a different way and I'm wondering if I copied it "wrong" and that's why the play disk only works in my writer. Does the install disk make a difference? |

| Install disc I copy install disc with Nero CD Copy. Any program that will do a copy will work. You just need to worry about the one that needs to be in to play.

| What is the general concensus on image read, BWA forming and image write speeds when using blindwrite to backup UT2. Some posts seem to indicate that it can all be done at Max, others that you need to crank the speed down to x2 or x4 |

| Same with my RTCW it has no protection other than the cd key, this is a U.S. version, don't know why it was giving you fits, you need to go through your drivers, check DMA, and probably defrag your hard drive, do all your updates. |

| Getting back to the original thread topic, contrary to most of the excellent advice on this site, I seem to find that when making a backup of securerom in general and unreal2 in particular, that I can only play them thru' my CD writer (lite-on 2410b) and not my normal CD/DVD player (Pioneer 106s). Most of the info on backing up securerom seems to suggest that it should be played back thru' the cd/dvd! Is this also hardware dependant, in otherwords is the Pioneer 106 not best suited to this task. Just curious really, playing thru' the lite-on works for me, so I have no real complaints regards |

| As far as I can tell the latest version of blindwrite only burns autoplay (emulation) copies. Twinpeak (non-emulation) copies no longer seem to be supported. Turning off autoplay support will just result in the copy not working even if blindwrite is installed. It won't result in blindwrite burning a copy that works without emulation. Why blindwrite has dropped the twinpeak method is beyond me since its ability to burn copies of securom that don't require emulation was the sole reason for its recent increase in popularity. If, like most people, you want to make a copy that doesn't require emulation, bin the current version of blindwrite and either go back to 4.2.5 or try the method set out here.
