JFYK, I made a working backup copy of Haegemonia: LOI (ita), using Clony XXL Ring PROTECH Profile with LTD-163D as reader and LTR40125S as burner; I only changed BSS from 100 to 500. Backups with Laserlock Profile or Game Profile install, but did not work.
I think it's a matter of reading speed, cause I get different logs... in Laserlock's & Game's backups, bad sectors are from 339436 to 344665, while in the working backup their range is from 339436 to 341906.

Finally! Made a Backup that works in all my computers and drives. I used the Clony Profiler and Did a firmware update on my Plextor 2410a. This game is SD 2.8 US Version.

Burned with both BW 4.24 and CloneCD 4.0.1.0. Works in Liteon 48125s, Plextor 2410a, Plextor 482448, Yamaha SCSI 8416s, Toshiba DVD SCSI M1401, Pioneer DVD 106 and a rebagged Toshiba M1602.

I think the firmware updates to my burners did the trick. I also tried different media. I have found that the Memorex 40x and 48x Black cdr are better for burning protected games. Not one coaster.

Your in luck Future...

You got lucky, Future, oz version isn't SD2.8, its got the ring on the outer edge of both CD's.

But don't get too excited, it's not gunna challenge you too much - Clone's IBSS takes care of it very easily...

@Crash-Bot

Media used was Lite-ON 48x 80 min CDR, i've only burned one copy (naturally!) of each disc, it works fine in my el-cheapo CD-Rom, as well as my Lite-ON 40125S (no ATIP here, i guess).

I have also find that New world order, Robin Hood - the sherwood leyend, Inquisition, new world order and iron storm ( spanish versions) have this type of protection. One ring in the outer part of the cd. I have a plextor 2410a writer and a toshiba dvd 1402. In the dvd, reading the full cd with cloneCD/Blindwrite last about 20 min. In my plextor it tooks abous 1h and 30 min. i have only succeed with iron storm reading from the toshiba drive. In the other cases the backup didn't work no matter the reader i use and speed when writting..

Any suggestion?

TIP: No .ocd files present on robin hood ( .pak)
To be more accurate this file with 20 mb in size has a particular behaviour when reading with a hex edit........it read about 10 mb with 0000000000000000 and then it get crazy forever. In the middle of the file there is something that don`t allow to be read more than 50%. It "generates" crapping data but do not pass to the 51%. If you do the inverse procedure ( reading from 51 to 50..it happens the same...crap data is "generated" and never stops. Obviously it doesn`t pass to the 50%.

thanks...

New at 13-12-2002: i tried cloneCD with robin hood and i succeed to make a backup that works only in the plextor drive. My toshiba gets freezing. In the other way...iron storm works perfect anyway.
i use a personal profile for "laserlock": FES on to 100, regenerate data sectors and read subchannel both data or audio.IBSS is on.

A curious datum: i tried CDmate to duplicate inquisition but i got a coaster unreadable. The important part is that reading from my plextor 24x....took about 7 hours to be completed....and THERE IS SCRAMBLED DATA into the ring structure! My toshiba reads it very fast but no data are shown in any log. With my plex seems to be a CRC check for "ok" sectors inside the ring
Maybe a stupid thought, don`t know.....

Did u try using IBSS? That was the only setting I checked for Iron Storm (with Sector Skip set to 500), reading and writing from a Lite-On 40125S at max speed, using CCD 4.1.0.1.

Backup installs and runs fine on CD Rom or writer.

Hi everyone,

I did make a good working backup of IronStorm a few moths ago
I did use it with twin peaks.

Did make a clonecd image first with my Tosiba 1612
and did patch the image with TwinPeak.

CloneCD 4.1.0.1
read Sub - on

bwa file made in the Tosiba too

Tosiba DVD SD-M1612
Liteon 48125w burner

In every cd/dvd rom drive i tested it works.

Don't know why it works but it does.

Maybe someone can find out that.

Happy burning for all of you,

Mike

I was able to make a perfect working backup of the U.S.A. version of Iron Storm. The first disc was protected with Ring Protech according to ClonyXXL v2.0.1.4c. The second disc was protected by SafeDisc V2.8 according to Clony v2.0.1.4c. "yAtEs" Protection Detector says Disc 2(scanned the IronStorm.exe in the installation folder) is Safedisc - 2.80.10

I used "philamber's" CloneCD settings with CloneCD on the first disc:
Quote:
The protection used on the oz release of Iron Storm is Ring Protech and it isn't all that difficult to copy with CloneCD.

Use a custom profile.
Read:
Fast Error Skip Settings: on
Intelligent Bad Sector Scanner: on (set it for 500)
Everything else off.
Write: Everything off (or check "Always close last session" if you feel you must.)
"CloneCd is outstanding with this protection (as is discdump in laserlock mode) and alcohol is ... well ... hopeless. However, alcohol's developers are aware of the problem and working on it."11-01-2003
I used Vluka's SafeDisc 2 settings to copy the 2nd disc with Alcohol 120%:
Quote:
...SafeDisc 2....
Reading:
Read Speed: Maximum (Angel of Death "I used 4X to rip")
Skip reading errors: Yes
Fast skip error blocks**: Yes
Read Sub-Channel Data: No
...To make a working copy of SD 2.80 use Alcohol v1.3.3.1027 or above or BlindWrite v4.2.2 or above. Clone v4.2.0.2 still fails for me (the copy works only in the drives that have problems with reading Pregap data).

Writing:
Write Speed: Maximum (Angel of Death "I used 4X to burn")
Write Method: whatever suits You (Angel of Death "I used RAW DAO")
Don't close the last session: No
Bypass EFM Error: (dependent on your burner)
Rectify Sub-Channel Data: No
Ahh... my trusty 2 sheep LiteOn 16102b...
I still have yet to encounter a copy protection I cannot defeat here in the U.S.A. (including: SafeDisc 1, Safedisc v2.80.10 and SecuROM - 4.83.11 0031 & Ring Protech)

I was thinking of upgrading & buying the latest LiteOn, but speed is not my # 1 priority. Can anyone justify me upgrading?($us50.00 measly bucks is nothing to me) Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Oh & btw THANK YOU to everyone at this forum that helps make everything we do possible.

Rented it from the video store the other day, Aus version uses ring protect or whatever and not SD2 so you might want to check it out.

Well, in Alcohol it reads the image with laserlock or SafeDisc 2, but I think you're right. Safedisc 2 is the one that works with burning the image. With reading laserlock settings it hangs, maybe i'm just not patient enough. The US release doesn't have that ring on the outside. They're mastered by "Duplium", so what do they use?
