| Do you know how to backup Pro Evolution Soccer 3 (PC)? Hi guys, I'm a total newbie in regards to Blindwrite, BWA builder and BW5 Tweaker. I just installed the 5.1.0.127 trial of BW and I like the simplicity of the application. However it seems to me that in order to do a working backup of PES 3 I have to use more than just the Blindwrite app itself. I read somewhere that someone managed to do a backup of this game. He stated that you needed to use BWTweaker to achieve this, but did not mention why. Could someone guide me, step by step, through the backup process. If this has been done before in another thread, I truly apologise. However a link to such a thread would be highly appreciated. Can someone point me to a general BW5.1 guide for total newbies like me? Cheers, Peter

| Well the only PES 3 i know of is (if remember correctly) a dvd with securom 4.85 and BW5 doesn't yet (officially) support copying this type of games You can however try to copy the game, but it will probably not work You'll need to use BW5.1, choose the profile Automatic (on both reading and writing) and then your ready to try it.

| Download the BlindWrite5 Tweaker and run it then reboot, then retry the backup.

| I dont think you have to select any special settings, just run BW5Tweaker, reboot and try the DVD you copied

| Ok, followed your advice but it still didn't work. Please note that i uninstalled the autoplay by running PcSetup.exe /removeatip. I have pasted in the log below, and I did notice the lines (in bold) regarding autoplay. Should I reinstall autoplay? Why do some people recommend uninstalling this? (like I said, I'm really a newbie) Please note that I did try to backup the game before uninstalling Autoplay (tried that before posting here) 25-01-2004 22:41:14 info ******************** Report session closed ********************* 25-01-2004 22:40:19 info Writing completed in 09:15 25-01-2004 22:40:17 info Finalize started 25-01-2004 22:31:04 info Write started 25-01-2004 22:31:04 info Buffer Under-run protection is enabled 25-01-2004 22:31:04 info Media topology will be embedded in Autoplay 25-01-2004 22:31:04 info Backup tagged for Autoplay 25-01-2004 22:31:04 info Writing speed required x4,0, effective x4,0 25-01-2004 22:31:03 info Format completed 25-01-2004 22:31:01 info Format started 25-01-2004 22:30:53 info Media ID : PHILIPS-041-00 25-01-2004 22:30:53 info Writing DVD-ROM Disc [DISK1] - Image Size 2,86 Gb. 25-01-2004 22:30:53 info Writing device : 1:0:0 - LITE-ON DVDRW LDW-811S HS0P [H] (Ide) 25-01-2004 22:30:47 info BWT 5 file contains topology data: Quality 100% 25-01-2004 22:30:38 info Loaded write profile Automatic 25-01-2004 22:30:38 info Using Patin-Couffin driver Version 1.19, Internal revision 19 25-01-2004 22:30:38 info ParamStr 0 = "C:\Programmer\vso\BlindWrite5\BW.exe" 25-01-2004 22:30:38 info User default language : 1030 (0x0406h) - Danish 25-01-2004 22:30:38 info System default language : 1030 (0x0406h) - Danish 25-01-2004 22:30:38 info Version 5.1.0.127 25-01-2004 22:30:38 info Title : BlindWrite 5.1.0.127 25-01-2004 22:30:38 info ExeName : "C:\Programmer\vso\BlindWrite5\BW.exe" 25-01-2004 22:30:38 info OS : Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 (Build 2600) 25-01-2004 22:30:38 info ******************** Report session started ******************** 25-01-2004 22:30:35 info ******************** Report session closed ********************* 25-01-2004 22:28:24 info BWT 5 file contains topology data: Quality 100% 25-01-2004 22:28:01 info BWT 5 file contains topology data: Quality 100% 25-01-2004 22:26:22 info BWT 5 file contains topology data: Quality 100% 25-01-2004 22:26:22 info Topology extraction completed in 01:00 25-01-2004 22:26:21 info Topology extracted. | No, you have to have the autoplay filter installed You should uninstall BW5, reboot, install BW5, reboot (this should install autoplay 5 filter), run BW5Tweaker, reboot, then try to run the copied DVD

| According to Device Manager, Pcatip.sys is version 1.5.0 When is it necessary to use the BWA Builder? Could this make any difference? How do I use the file generated with BWA builder? Like I said, if anyone can supply me with a good link to a Blindwrite 5.x guide, I would really appreciate it. Is there some kind of guide on how to backup different protections, including different versions of Securom and Safedisc ?

| BWA builder makes BWA files which are the same as topology in BW5, so it wouldnt make any difference for you since topology was used on your DVD. If you still want to use the BWA file made with BWA Builder, you need to use the BW5Tweaker which has a setting to include a BWA file. BW5Tweaker has tooltips if you wonder about the settings I dont know of any BW5 guide, maybe beacause it's so easy to use BW5 that you wont need a guide (everything is automatic)

| Ok, never mind BWABuilder. However, with autoplay installed and the Tweaker v1.5 installed (still dont understand why this is necessary though), I tried to backup the game using both my 811S and 2500A. Both backups do not work. So far I have been using DVD+RW media. Is this a problem?

| The problem could be with the media, or the burner, or the drive you read the copy from. It could even be with the chipset of the mainboard you have, or the IDE drivers you are using. The problem is that copying of DVDs with Securom protection is still like in baby shoes. Blindwrite version 5.1 is the first version that will read the topology on the DVD. ( BW 5.1 then copies this to disk when you burn the game so the copy can trick the Securom protection into thinking its an Original. ) This is the reason you need Autoplay installed to even have a chance. At least one person has posted success in being able to get a working copy of a Securom protected DVD, so dont give up hope.
