copy2DVD fried my HP 300i ?

this is the first time I am using the software. It ran for a few seconds then aborted.

Now the DVD burner is disabled. It won't open the tray and the LED blinks constantly. I powered off and rebooted my machine but it did not help.

Any ideas how I can get my burner back?

It's an internal drive. I was using a no-name DVR+R, however I burned about 20 of them successfully before. The only thing I changed is the software.

Please note I e-mailed vso support about the problem. While I appreciate any help, I did not mean to randomize you.

We've just killed 3 HP300e's (external USB 2) drives with copytoDVD. Seems like there's a compatability issues with these drives and CopytoDVD.

Anyone know anything about this???

I Just had a phone call with HP .. yes, we confirm now, there is a problem with copytodvd and hp300 ( external but not sure about internal model ) .. I am updating the vso web site to put the warning. I don't have fix now. contact the HP technical support to advice about how to recover, please tell them the problem is with copytodvd. We are waiting to know how to avoid the problem to occur.

The new release (CopyToDVD 2.2.7) will not fix an already dead HP drive.
The new release will only stop it happening in the first place.
If you have killed your drive I suggest you contact HP support.

there´s no HP support where I live.
Do you have any other solution, instead of unit replacement?

The tool they send you looks like a firmware update tool to version 1.25. I think the worst thing that can happen if you contact US support is you get a firmware with RC1 as default.
