Copy to DVD is telling me my DVD+R is too small

I am using TDK 4.7 GB DVD+R. On the Dual format Memorex Burner. I didnt have problems before. I completed 10 or so DVD copies using the same technique.
Recently I started to have problems and I reinstalled Copy to DVD and now something is preventing me from finishing the job.
I decrypt DVD with DVD Decrypter, then I compress
with DVD to ONE, and when I try to burn it with Copy to DVD 2.3.8.235 it is telling me that my media is smaller the 4.3 GB
which is not true. Is ther a way to go around it or fix it ?
Please Help

I used 2.3.8 and 2.3.10 and the problem is, the DVD 2 One compression didn't compress far enough, even though your specs were correct.

This is a known proplem with this software many of us encounter and it frustrated me to no end when I first started out 1 week ago. Well, that, and CRAPPY media. LOL

What I do is usually, I'll compress with variable at first. Then, I'll check the space and make sure its the correct size. If it isn't, I'll open DVD2One again and recompress the same files with Constant and usually, the second pass through makes it small enough to burn.

Additionally, I like to set mine to 4400MB. This has helped a little.

There are posts in this forum that explain why 4.7GB DVD-R's don't fit 4.7GB space from your HDD. I understood why but there's no way I can re-explain it. Use the search feature.

isnt it because the media manufactors counts 1gb as 1000mb, while the computer counts 1gb as 1024mb?

no,not really,its a bug in dvd2one,version 1.23 i think.
it makes the selected file slightly bigger than it should be,or it just writes the file size wrong.
either way,its bugged.
next time,try "constant" compression.
there shouldnt be a noticable difference.

Genjai,

Yes, exactly. It was something along those lines. 4700MB is not 4.7GB yet these disks are labelled 4.7GB. You get the picture.

SR_MuFf,

I've found DVD2One doesn't compress these smaller videos. Such as Sixth Sense. I have purchased 3 copies of this movie before realizing there was a way to backup.

When ripping, everything is AOK but the rip itself has TONS of VOB files. On variable, it made it about 5GB even with 4400MB setting. I recompressed the 5GB with fixed and it took care of it.

Thanks for your posts.
I upgraded to 2.3.10 and it looks like it is working again.
As per Scottdaman's suggestions, I am not sure if that was the case. The whole folder after compression was exactly 4.37 GB but the error message was telling different.
And by the way my DVD2one is 1.30
It is woyking, that's important.

Another thing to keep in mind is that CopyToDVD will see all the files/subfolders in the movie folder as being part of what should be burnt. So if you have any unrelated files in the movie folder they could cause problems.
