First post here. I have looked on this forum and whilst it has a lot of good info, I haven't been able to find the answer to my specific problem. Which is :

I am creating a DVD (-R) comprised of a number of music video clips.

In the Menu tab of the options section, I have "Include Menu" chosen, because I would prefer to see a list of what is available so that if required, I can pick a selected file to watch.

The problem is, that after watching any track, I get returned to the menu.

What I want to do is have the tracks play one after the other, but have the menu option if I want to return to it.

So : I also chose "Sequential Playback". This tells me that it "Plays all videos in sequence without returning to the menu". The problem is that it does return to the menu !

So : I chose "Auto-Start playback". This says that it "Skips menu when DVD is inserted, and immediately starts the playback". And it does. But after one track, it also returns to the menu

The only way I have been able to get the sequential plays to happen is to uncheck "Include Menu" - however, the other two options (particularly "Sequential Playback") would seem to infer that you *can* have a menu when you choose this option.

Does anyone have any suggestions please ? I don't know what else to try...

Just did a test.
Converted 5 files twice.
First - no menu, no options selected at all.
Result - autoplaying DVD that played all tracks and looped back to first after last was played.
Second - all menu options selected.
Result - autoplaying DVD that played all tracks and looped back to first after last was played.

So both options should work - select all menu options or none.

One thing to note is that some players (specially on PC) have option to play just one track instead. How are you watching that DVD? With what equipment/software?

Yes, I should have said how I was watching them.

I get the same results if I play the disk using (on my PC) Power DVD 5 as I do if I play them on either of the home's 2 DVD players.

One is a hard disk recorder/player :

LG - Model RH4940W

The other is a dedicated DVD Player :

Phillips - Model DVP642K/75

I hope that info is of some use !

Interesting to note that Windows Media Player 11 only recognises the first menu screen but will neither let me click on any of the options, nor arrow up down through any of the options.

WMP11 is big pile of ....

But this is really interesting, why is it not working same way here than there?
You did check menu settings before conversion, settings on main CxD window?

Why ? Because it is me using it ! Ever get that feeling ?

Yes, I had checked the settings, further, I had saved them !

I am doing another test now, with a couple of files, with all the options checked (including Loop Playback, which i hadn't used before).

I will let you know.

I think I see WHY it is happening, but not how to fix it !

In the "Log" window that appears at the bottom, when I go back to the start of the log then work progressively through it, it shows the following :

Now, all I can do is absolutely assure you that all 4 items are checked in the Menu Tab ! Both before I start the process, and after I finish ! I swear to God !

I realise that everything above suggests I haven't...but I have

I set the engine log this time, however I assume it will say the same as the above !

We shall see.

Well .. that is quite clear - settings are wrong.
With those settings all you get is playing of first track, then menu.
Selecting any track after that returns to menu after track.

There might be problems with registry preventing your changes to affect.

Uninstall CxD, then manually edit registry, find VSO entry and remove CxD entry totally. (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VSO\ConvertXtoDVD)
Then install again.

I have realised that what you asked me in a previous post, I misinterpreted.

When you asked "You did check menu settings before conversion, settings on main CxD window?"...I interpreted that as meaning in the Menu tab (even though you said main window)

So I have now applied checks to the following image (see below) and am giving it another test.
