Hi there,

Please, always provide us a full conversion log so others can see what is going on.

Are you using the latest v2.0.13 version ?

If not, I would definitly upgrade, since the latets version fixed several subtitle issues !

Re: CD Freaks presents: The VSO ConvertXtoDVD 2 review

The latest version has audio sync fixed 2.0.14.
A 7.5 GB band video avi converts perfectly to .vob (as checked by DVD shrink 3.2).

A work around is to use Videodub to cut the large avi file into 10000 frame sections and add these smaller avi files to ConvertXtoDVD.

Re: CD Freaks presents: The VSO ConvertXtoDVD 2 review

I have searched the whole VSO ConvertXtoDVD thread, and can't find the answer to this simple question. I have made three DVDs with my own video files; they burned ok; but none of the damn things will play on either of my two consumer DVD players. The TV screen says "invalid disc". Does anyone have any advice before I make some more expensive coasters?

Thanks

Re: CD Freaks presents: The VSO ConvertXtoDVD 2 review

Hi there,

1- This is a review thread, people should ask for help in a new thread

2- After making 1 coaster, people should use DVD+RW / DVD-RW media for further testing, I would not make 10 coasters.

3- Always provide full conversion log and/or burn logs when asking for help. There is a lot of information in there.

4- I have a feeling you created PAL DVDs when you need NTSC. Is this the case ?

Re: CD Freaks presents: The VSO ConvertXtoDVD 2 review

Sorry - hadn't realised I was doing the wrong thing. And yes, I think that is the problem - I was leaving it on automatic instead of choosing PAL specifically. It seems to work ok now. Thanks.

Re: CD Freaks presents: The VSO ConvertXtoDVD 2 review

I downloaded VSO ConvertXtoDVD 2 Version 2.1.0.148 from the official website.

I set the software to produce only NTSC DVD output.

I run the program and I get PAL output.

I checked the LOG and it states that PAL was set by USER.

I've use previous versions of the software and the only reason I updated was to place subtitles in The Da Vinci Code.

I've been using the software for years and never had a problem. The software means I've been using it before it changed to the current name and versions.

I've removed and reinstalled the software several times .... I've checked my defaults and it say NTSC and the output still saves PAL and the LOG says set by USER.

I can can PAL to NTSC manually but I don't wanna have to do that each time.

I have all the previous of VSO ConvertXtoDVD 2 so I can go back to a version the worked properly.

I've converted 100's of files to DVD using previous versions program and have converted several from PAL to NTSC.

I use to have the problem of movies playing on the PC and not on a stand-alone DVD player.

Playing a movie on a PC is not a test. The stand-alone looks for certain things on a movie like the name and format of the folder containg the IFO and VOB files. It also looks at the sequence of the files.

I ended up using NERO only because NERO runs a VALIDATION routine before it burns a DVD ... you have the option of overriding the VALIDATION SUGGESTION.

I never burn a DVD using VSO ConvertXtoDVD 2. I write to HD and then use NERO to produce the DVD.

You can use expensive media but if the files aren't written exactly as the stand-alone expects it to be ... you're gonna still end up with movies that play on the PC and not on a stand-alone DVD player.

I'm a newbie here but I've burned several 1000 DVD's over the years ... DVD to DVD ... regular and double-layer and DivX to DVD.

I'm having the same problem. Yesterday I updated to VSO ConvertXtoDVD 2 Version 2.1.0.148 and the DVD output was PAL so I went back to duble-check cause I never had this problem before Version 2.1.0.148 (downloaded from official webstite).

My output standard was set at NTSC.

So I ran the program again and the LOG says PAL was set by the USER.

I only wanted to place subtitles in the Da Vinci Code and the output was PAL. It seems as if I have to remove Version 2.1.0.148 and go back to a previous version. I've been using VSO ConvertXtoDVD 2 since it 1st came out and I was using VSO before it change the name to VSO ConvertXtoDVD 2 so please don't explain that I didn't set output to NTSC.

I've converted PAL to NTSC before Version 2.1.0.148.

Hi there,

You probably used .sub/.idx PAL subtitles right ?

using such .sub/.idx PAL subtitles will force your output to the same format those subtitles are.

It's not really a bug, but yes doesn't output to what you want.

Read about it here:

http://bugs.vso-software.fr/view.php?id=230

and

Re: CD Freaks presents: The VSO ConvertXtoDVD 2 review

I tried it but the DVD contents will not display on my DVD player, there is no menu or anything, and the display says VCD. PowerDVD finds the menu and all seems to work fine. Why would the player think it's a VCD?

Re: CD Freaks presents: The VSO ConvertXtoDVD 2 review

I have been using VSO for about a year and it is the only software I have been able to find that has about a 99.9% success for me. I do have a couple questions that if anyone knows answers to, would make life a lot easier...I use convertxtodvd to do alot of television series (making a disc that holds 4 or 5 episodes) When first beginning, I believed that I had to keep it beneath the 120 mins so many discs only contained 2 episodes. Later discovering it was actually the 4.7Gbs, I cut my disc use and not to mention storage down in 1/2. Now I have a season of Battlestar Galactica sitting here on 2 episodes per disc and was just wndering if there is a way to rip 2 discs and put those 4 episodes onto 1 disc. I have tried to ssave the 2 discs in seperate folders and load the 4 episodes into convertx, but only get the error message of identical file/path names. The only issue I do have with this software and I noticed it mentioned by someone else in this thread, but did not notice a reply (although I am cut for time this morning and did not read too far back so apologize if I have missed someone's reply to this issue) I find the the software uses ALOT of CPU...even during the idle Is there a known tweak to adjust this issue that anyone is aware of?

Re: CD Freaks presents: The VSO ConvertXtoDVD 2 review

I have converted over 100-150 movies with ConvertXtoDVD had almost no issues with it (especially compared to some other converters). It produces good quality movies and is packed with quite a few nice options. It's price is also very competitive. If you wanna be frugal you can get it for just $26 from here for example.
