Can't get CopyToDVD to burn at slower speed

I can't understand why I can't get copytodvd to burn at the speed I set in the programs settings. I want to burn at some slower speeds to see if some media I have will stop freezing at the end of the film. I have set dvdshrink to compress to 4300mb and in the copytodvd settings, I change the max writing speed for DVD media to 2x and 1x, but every time it burns at close to 4x...... what am I doing wrong?

Here is a snippet from my copytodvd log (if I should post the log file separate, I'm sorry and I will):

(Thanks for anyhelp)

Re: Can't get CopyToDVD to burn at slower speed

My guess is your NEC 3520A doesn't support burning speeds slower than 4x.

Re: Can't get CopyToDVD to burn at slower speed

Kalas......

Thanks, I guess I didn't think of that.

On the subject of movies freezing near the end of the discs, I have a problem that I am curious if anyone else has encountered:

I had been using Ritek 4x branded DVD#R's and they have worked beautifully. Never had any freezing near the end of the discs at all. Then I purchased the Epson R300 printer and bought some Ritek 4x inkjet-printable DVD+R's and they worked for a while. Then, the inkjet-printable discs started having problems with freezing near the end of the movies. This is before I went out and bought the new NEW 3520A burner. I had an LG GRA-4120B that came factory installed in my Dell. I tried everything to get them to burn without freezing (no firmware upgrade existed for the burner, burned at slower speeds, set size to 4300mb, tried diff burning software). So, I stuck with the non-printable ones that have worked. Then, all of a sudden, the non-printables started giving me problems with freezing and I could not get one to burn ok. But, the odd thing is that the inkjet-printables were now working. So, this is where I went out and bought the new NEC 3520A burner and upgraded the firmware with Liggy & Dee's beta2. I was using the Ritek inkjet-printables with this buirner without problems unitl the other day and now once again, I can't get one to burn ok. The non-printables are now working fine though............. It is frustrating, because I have to check each and every single burn I make to see if they are freezing.

I have a bunch of the Ritek 4x inkjet-printable DVD+R's and I would like to use them, but I can't get them to work......

Does anyone have any suggestions? Are these Riteks just too cheap that I am out of luck? Why would they burn ok 100% and then 0%?

I would really like to find some inkjet-printable discs that I could use with the NEC 3520A. Are there any suggestions? <--- If this is a stupid question and there is a place where this info is already, sorry and please advise on where I can find that.

Thanks everyone....

Re: Can't get CopyToDVD to burn at slower speed

You have flashed your 3520 with the 1.24 firmware. When we have a closer look at that firmware (see below) you can see that 2.4x speed is possible.
