avs scripts lack sound

Hi, my question when using the program AviSynth 2.5 I attempted to make a script for ConvertXtoDVD to fix the overscan on my TV since the subs whet off of the screen and since it's hard subs I can't to much to fix that other then add blocks around the video to make it fit the tv. When I try to run an avs script in xtodvd I keep getting a yellow bar telling me about a "discontinuity #1 in stream #1" and the discontinuity continues as the file converts, producing no vob files. The only way that I have found to fix this is to disable the sound, the file will then convert... but there will be no sound. Anyone know if there is an easy way to fix this without having to reconvert the whole file?

-Thanks

Re: avs scripts lack sound

I have the exact same problem when I use an avisynth script to add subtitles and borders (to eliminate the overscan of my tv) to my avi-files.

the avs-file looks like this :

LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\vsfilter.dll")
AviSource("D:\...\***.avi")
TextSub("D:\...\***.srt")
TextSub("D:\***\.srt.style")
AddBorders(60,33,60,33)
BilinearResize(720,400)

When I hit the convert button the conversion starts but it gives me the same yellow bar showing these errors (sorry, partly dutch) :

I have not tried to convert disabling the audio.

However, when I do not cancel the process and leave the program to convert the movie the final result is fine. For each frame it gives me a warning about a discontinuity but it has no effect on the conversion.

It still remains that, no matter what I change in the avs-file, I still keep getting the same error-messages. I thought that the latest release (2.1.10.209) of ConvertxtoDVD had difficulties handling aviscript and I tried to downgrade to an older version (2.1.8 ) but still got the same message.

Is there any way to avoid the error-messages ?

I hope any one can help ?

Thanks.

If converted result is fine - ignore those messages. They are there just to warn user that there is something wrong with input file. CxD is trying to fix those problems, and if result is fine then it succeeded.

Re: avs scripts lack sound

Thanks JJ,
I wouldn't really mind the error-messages but for one thing though :
once the conversion is on its way it appears as if CxD is not responding. When I open another window (for example an internet explorer window) and I want to go back to the CxD window, it does not open on screen when I click on the taskbarbutton although in the taskmanager its seems to be active. It only appears back on screen once the conversion is finished.

The progress bar in CxD always shows 0% or 0 minutes.

Perhaps I can try converting with the "Don't check/fix audio discontinuities"-option enabled ?

Re: avs scripts lack sound

I did try that, didn't do anything for me.

Ah, it looks as though the latest updated fixed this problem... but there is still a small glitch that i found, the % bar never moves but the video still converts as far as i know.

Thanks for the help.

Re: avs scripts lack sound

Yes Unlimited, same conclusion here :

this time I enabled the "Don't check/fix audio discontinuities"-option and noticed that I got no error-messages. The final DVD output file quality is exellent. Only the progress-bar refuses. It doesn't move an inch or show a percentage of completion.

Is there anything to be done about that ?

Hi,

I just noticed that this bug has already been submitted to the VSO Bug Tracking System.

Here is the link : http://bugs.vso-software.fr/view.php?id=605

> progress bar and bitrate problem > no solution found yet

And an older on : http://bugs.vso-software.fr/view.php?id=398

> here it is suggested that it is bad timing that causes the security warnings.
