I have a movie I want to burn on DVD and after converting, the size is 4.41 GB, barely going over the 4.38 GB line. Is there anyway I can get this to fit and still have the entire movie? is there any option to get have smaller size?

If you convert the movie with "meduim quality" it should be a lot smaller. If you burn it with "high quality", ConvertX will always make a file that fills the whole disk. There is no option for choosing to make a high quality disk that only fills (say) up to 4 gig.

Your other options is to after converting the movie to disk, use Nero to burn it out rather than ConvertX. This gives you the option of using Nero's "short lead in" and even "overburn" features to get a few more megs out of a disc, although you need to read up on the caveats involved with these two features in the Nero forums here at CDFreaks.

How do I do the medium quality? I'm using divxtodvd.

DivxToDVD has been superceded by ConvertXToDVD. VSO software wrote a new engine for DivxToDVD and changed the name. The quality settings are in the options tab under "encoding". Upgrade to the latest version from the VSO website.

In Nero, the setting you're after are under "preferences -> expert features".

If the movie is now in IFO/BUP/VOB format then a run through with DVD Shrink will get it down to size for you.
Often better to do this than mess around with encoder settings.
