Need help backuping sims 2 with alchohol 120% - Club CD Freaks

Hello,
I bought the sims 2 yesterday and i want to backup cd1 because my sister using the cd everytime so that i cant play so can anyone give me a step by step guide of how to burn the sims 2 backup on my hdd?

My Specs are:
Intel p4 2,8 ghz ht
Asus nvida geforce 2 mx440 32 mb(upgrading soon to ati radeon 9800:P)
512mb ddr ram
cd burner = lite-on ltr-40125(40x12x48)

don't know about the abilities of your burner but normally you'd do it this way:

start alc
insert cd
start the copy-wizard
choose your reader (the lite-on)
set profile to safedisc
change read-speed to 4x
click on next

after the image is done (which could take some time depending from your hardware...) you should burn it using again the safedisc profile, using 4x speed...

give it a try...

Set profile to Safedisc 2/3.
The copy will only work in a reader as safedisc checks for the existence of ATIP, which a reader cannot read but a burner can.
If it finds it then it will ask for correct cd.

Profile should be safedisc, not safedisc 2/3 for your particular burner. Read and write at 4x also.

what if i want to be able to play in a burner?

Safedisc checks for the existence of ATIP, if the game is run from a burner the burner reads it and you get the message to insert 'correct cd'

3 years later... :-)

I have had all my sims put into alchohol120.

But then i have reinstalled my pc.

Before that i have copied all the mds files.

After installing my pc I have put the MDS files into the alchohol120 folder.

I can see the MDS files in alchohol120.
But when mounting them they give me errors of diff kind.

What have i done wrong?

Is there a alchohol guide somewhere that I can download?

No...

so the mds files not enough.

Okay could you tell me what to exactly to "backup" and where from/to?

can I do something now without the mdf files?

You will need to remake the images off the original discs as the MDF file is required.

Sorry...sorry...

I know see that i have everything.
I have the mds and the mdf files in a folder called sims that is placed in programs\alchohol soft\alchohol120\

I have installed a newer version of alchohol and it's not working.
Do I need something else?

When i mount one of the mds files i get error that it can't find original or other times it will install from the beginning and ask for serial number a.s.o.

So just insert your purchased serial number and proceed (or do as _chef_ suggests).
