Alcohol Discuss, image too large to be mounted? at Burning Software forum; I'm relatively new to dvd burning - I have made an image file (.mdf) with alcohol 120% (Chicken Little DVD - I don't want the kids to scratch the original) but cannot mount it to a virtual drive. Is this because the image (6.9Gb)is larger than a standard

image too large to be mounted?

I'm relatively new to dvd burning - I have made an image file (.mdf) with alcohol 120% (Chicken Little DVD - I don't want the kids to scratch the original) but cannot mount it to a virtual drive. Is this because the image (6.9Gb)is larger than a standard DVD (4.7Gb)?

If so, how do I reduce the size of the .mdf file?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: image too large to be mounted?

nope, the size is not the problem.

what did you use to remove copy protection on the dvd when you created the ISO?

are you getting an error message when you try to mount it? if so, what is the message?

you can try using ripit4me in conjunction with DVD decrypter to create an ISO. This should be mountable on alcohol's virtual drive.

Re: image too large to be mounted?

Thanks for the help
I didn't remove copy protection - thought I could do that at a later stage (planned to use AnyDVD and DVDClone).

I don't get any error message - when I try the wizard all the options for where to burn the image are greyed out?

Re: image too large to be mounted?

I assume that the dvd is a movie rather than a game. If so, then alcohol can't be used to copy/image it successfully without the assistance of a utility such as AnyDVD that removes CSS encryption on the fly.

Re: image too large to be mounted?

Use AnyDVD to remove the protection & DVD Shrink (free) or CloneDVD ($) to remove extras etc & compress to a single layer DVD size & burn it.

Lock the original away & let the kids ruin the copy.
