Help!! SD 2.90 doesn't work... - Club CDFreaks

I'm using the newest version of Alcohol to try make backup of Devastation e The Sims Superstars. I've tried several options to make image files and burn in CDRW disc. All tests fails. The game doesn't initialize and i got always the same error (temp file....).
What i have to do?

(Backups of others SD2 versions are fully playables)
Burners: Plexwriter 12/10/32A and LG GCE 8320B (firmware 1.04)
Readers: Plexwriter 12/10/32A (firmware 1.1)

It may not be possible to successfully copy sd 2.9 with your hardware. Not all 2 sheep writers are capable of doing so and your plex is, of course, only a 1 sheep model.

Your best bets would be to try alcohol or the discdump/fireburner combination reading with the plex and writing with your LG burner in accordance with the instructions set out here.

Did you try to DISABLE "Ignore Media Type" in the emulation options ? Try using a CD-R.
Btw, if you only have a one sheep writer, you should check "bypass efm error", with a two sheep writer this should be unchecked.

On this subject, I have a newb question probably, but I believe my writer is a no-sheep model ( HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8400B ), and my reader is a Lite On LTN 486S 48x. I'm trying to burn Simcity 4, and I don't even get a "bypass efm error" box showing up in Alcohol when I run through the steps in this thread. Am I screwed? or should I just try a burn and see what happens?

You don't need it. The LG 8400 is a sd2 killer.

No Bypass efm error box ?? I haven't seen this yet.

Bypass efm error is disabled in countries where the legality of its use is in doubt (in particular, USA and Japan). If you're US based, try "moving" to Canada if you need to use that option.

Report on burning SimCity 4:

Wow, I didn't know the 8400 was a SD2 Killer. So what I did was dig around in the options for Alcohol, and found the Bypass EFM box under Recording > Data Type Setting > Recording options tab. I left it unchecked, as I was using my Lite On CD ROM drive to read, and then switch to the 8400 for burning.

Worked like a Champ! No problems at all. So I guess I didn't really need the help, but thanks monty and philamber. This forum is an amazing resource for n00bs and veterans alike, I guess.

You must use LG 32X or 40X not Plextor! to write SD2.
For me all SD2 backup with LG works!

Read with plex at 8X max and write with LG with any speed.

To play use a DVD player that not reads atip or check ignore media using alcohol.
