| Help - can't make a working backup copy of Doom 3 with Alcohol 120% Hi everybody, I need help. I tried burning a working backup copy of my original Doom 3 game using Alcohol 120% (latest release 1.9.2. 1705). The only thing I got was a bunch of coasters. My burner is a Lite-On LTR 52327S that gave me absolutely no problems before. Well, here's what I did: First I used A Ray Scanner to get copy protection infos and I found out Doom 3 is protected by Safedisc 3.20.022. After that, I created an image of the first disc in the set with Alcohol 120%, setting reading speed at 24x, and choosing safedisc as a profile (not safedisc 2/3). Then I burned the image I got using the following settings: Speed 8x Profile Safedisc I chose safedisc because, if I don't make a mistake, mine is a two sheep burner (EFM capable) so there should be no need of setting safedisc 2/3 as reading and burnig profile. I burned the remaining 2 CDs with Clone CD as they don't have any protection. The install went on smoothly. At the end of the install, when I tried launching the game, the launching menu appeared and I selected play. After that the Cd rom drive started spinning and the busy light on it kept on flashing. The hard drive light lighted up too and stayed that way until the system hung and I had to eject the disc from the Cd Rom drive to get everything working properly again. I tried mounting the image of the first Cd of the set on Alcohol 120% Virtual drive and... it worked! So why can't I burn a working backup copy of Doom 3 when the image, mounted on Alcohol's virtual drive, works perfectly? ![]() I read in other posts on the forum that this latest version of safedisc protection (3.20.022) can't be defeated by every two sheep burner. So, is my Lite-On LTR 52327S one of those drives that aren't able to defeat safedisc 3.20.022? Please help, I don't want to waste other cd-Rs trying backing up Doom 3, as my coaster collection is already very rich at the moment ![]() P.S. Thank you very much to $CyBeRwIz$ for the great "Offline Help Guide" and to all of those who gave their contribution in making it. It's really very very useful. Keep up the good work pals! ![]() |

| Re: Help - can't make a working backup copy of Doom 3 with Alcohol 120% Thank you sup3rt3d, I'll try reading and burning the image at 4x, just like you did. Let's hope it'll work. I'll post the results as soon as I complete the burning procedure. ![]() |
