Ok, I'm new to Alcohol, but I don't think I'm completely stupid. Here's my problem.

I was trying to follow the guide to backing up securerom 4.8xxx w/o emulation.

I used alcohol to create an image, and selected CCD as the output format. The problem is, it's writing a .img and .sub file but no ccd file.

I've tried different drives, different drive speeds, waving my arms in the air, nothing works.

It says in the screen that it's outputing to vice_city_play.ccd, and then in the log scroll says writing vice_city_play.img.

I'm using SecureRom New as the datatype setting. I've tried ripping at max speed, and down all the way to 8x. Same thing each time .sub and .img, no .ccd.....

I've also searched through the forums, and couldn't find anything on this. Does anybody have any ideas?

You can also use Alcohol's mdf/mds format Copying Securom 4.8x/5.x/7.x CDs with Alcohol and A-Ray Scanner if your method doesn't work.

Ok, that will work for a short term solution, but the real problem is, alcohol is writing .img files not .ccd files.

Has anybody had this issue before?
I'm totally stumped.

I had the same issue. Alcohol only writes in .img and .sub files. (It is missing .ccd file)

What is the advantage using Alcohol instead of CloneCD getting an .img, .sub, .ccd file maybe I'm missing something?

Yes i'm also having the same problem. It doesn't matter what cd i put in either. I tried Warcraft III: ROC and then after TFT and both dont allow me to save as ccd. It saves a .img and .sub though. Using a different drive doesn't effect it either. I also noticed that just before the image making wizard completes, i recieve this message: "Read data examination error at:" It shows up for both cd's just before it reaches 100%. Could this be related to it? Any solutions?

That is a part of the protection so no, I don't believe it is. I think you'd be better of using Alcohol's native format rather than Clone Cd's.

I was hoping to make a perfect 1:1 copy using twinpeak and BWA method with ,ccd file. Is there a way to make a copy with JUST alcohol 120% that doesn't require emulation?

A twinpeak copy is far from being a 1:1 copy. However, you can make a non-emulation twinpeak copy using only alcohol and A-Ray scanner with this method.

Of course he'd be better when there's a bug in ccd-file creation (which wasn't there in older versions).

Drop it or fix it (haven't tested 1.9.5.4212, yet).

Is it that the ccd isnt needed if its for clonecd?? or this file ccd is impotant
