I am trying out the trail version of Alcohol, and for the life of me I can not get it to burn a readable cd

I have tried every method I can think of (from a cue, cd to cd copy, creating an image and reburning that image).

All things appear to work fine, Alcohol does not give any errors, but the cd's just don't work. If I use a cd-r you can see the burned section on the cd. I can view them in windows explorer, but there are no files. If I use a cd-rw when I place the burned cd-rw into the machine it shows up as a blank cd (when I try to burn something to it, I receive error messages that the cd is not blank - and I cannot erase it with any program other than Alcohol). If you check the disc properties using Alcohol it tells you that there is information on the cd, and the size works out to what it should have been if the cd had worked.

I have burned many successful cds using other programs (Roxio, Record Now, Nero, Windows XP's built in recorder) and those options all still work fine. Even on the same cd-rw I was trying with Alcohol (after I re-erased it).

My burner is as follows:

According to Alcohols website it is supported.

Any help you can provide me would be great, I do not understand why this does not work

hmm, that's real wierd, cos thatz exactly what fireburner does on my systems...and i never solved it. although i did fluke a burn with FB once...ok, so, in alcohol,options/general/device control interface/ use the dropdown and choose windows nt/2000/xp.../ok
close/restart alcohol...see what happens now
