Alcohol Write PREGAP area ERROR problems - Club CDFreaks

I just purchased Alcohol and I'm getting this error upon trying to burn an Alcohol image.

And before anyone jumps the gun on piracy or whatever, I own the actual Windows XP Pro disk that I'm trying to make a copy of. I keep an image on hand just so that I do not have to always handle the original. I'm not very keen with keeping things in tip top shape so I run the risk of damaging my disk forever, thus I create an image using Alcohol and use that instead.

Windows cds are not copy protected. There is no need for a specialist duplicating program such as alcohol. Just copy your original cd with the cd copy function of any burning program (e.g. nero).

I am encountering the same error, but this occurs with one particular dvd drive, the Samsung SHW-163A this is a SATA drive.
My NEC 3520 works great running on the same PC.

Is there anyone ho can help ? I wonder if it is an incorrect setting or malfunctioning dvd drives (I recently bought 2 Samsungs)

Try posting a complete system report so we can give it to the DEVS to look in to.

sorry, im rather new here, what do you mean with a system report ?
just the specs or something else ?
In the meantime I've tried the same using another pc with alcohol and the samsung sata dvd-writer, it went also wrong, but now alcohol doesn't mention a pregap error, just a write error

YEAH !!!

Searching through the forum showed another topic about sata drives, so I also uninstalled the Nvidia IDE drivers and ther it fired up the burning !!!

I'm happy again !

This is pissing me off. I just wasted seven DVDs. I am receiving the same stupid error again. FREAKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!
