Alcohol freezes with raven shield in yamaha - Club CDFreaks

My original raven shield can't do full install, only minimum coz for some reason it thinks it's not original cd.

I'm using alcohol 1.4.6 to back up the second cd. However it freezes when i try to scan it in the yamaha crw8824e writer (sheep 1 burner). I have to reboot. It works fine reading it though in my asus dvd rom. But i think it's not good at reading the cd and it's very slow reading it!

Tried clonecd 4.2.02 and i get crc error in sound file when trying to install. Original works with install.

Tried latest blindwrite and that's buggy as hell. sometimes freezes or even disables buttons when they shouldn't need to.

Nero can't do it coz it can't

I'm not left with many options, any help?

you might need to use hide cdr media or atip, and since you have only a sheep burner you might try crossing your fingers. I made a copy no problem, using blindwrite and a plextor premium, sony dru-500a and a lite-on 48125w.

You've got a dodgy original then. You can't expect a copy to be any good if the original is defective. Take it back to where you bought it and exchange it for another. Then you can try again.

i've found "hide media" function on clonecd but not on alcohol. Where is this?

The "cd info header" reads perfectly on my asus dvd, but freezes in my yamaha reader when about to scan the image in alcohol.

I noticed that my burner freezes in blindwrite when it tries to scan sub codes. It does this only when i tick the check box for it. Even just ticking the check box above it seems to like checking sub codes, lol. Happens with latest blindwrite but old one doesn't automatically start scanning sub codes.

I still want to try to get it to read in alcohol somehow, but in my asus it's taking hours to read the image. Clone cd was much faster doing this but it ended up being a bad cd with crc checking during install. I'm gona check gamecopyworld to see if there's some sort of crc remover patch and use cdrwin.

as said before...bring it back...games are expensive...they should work

if it is broken..your copy will also be broken.

Well looks like i'm getting closer to copying the second cd. I used ddump and used cdrwin and i didn't get the crc check to come up. However, it froze near the end of installing but didn't remove the alrady installed contents, as did before.

Looks like fireburner also freezes when it tries to access my yamaha. I'm guessing there's some sort of atapi driver i need to install and setup so that programs like alcohol, fireburner and blindwrite won't freeze?

If so, then how do I go about knowing what settings to change?
I'm using xp and that IMAPI burning rom service is turned on. Or should that be off? Tried both and still no difference. Just wondering if that has conflict with the programs mentioned above?

Disable the IMAPI burning service in XP and forget all about using cdrwin. You can't copy sd 2.8+ successfully with that app.

If you've made the image with ddump, burn it with fireburner and, if the burnt cd doesn't work (coz you've got a 1 sheep writer), try using alcohol with safedisc 2 datatype settings.

Yeh fireburner and alcohol both freeze coz there's some sort of hardware conflict when reading the cd writer. I've emailed the alcohol support ppl to find out why coz all the other programs don't freeze like that.

hi, well looks like it was the firmwares fault. After installing the latest firmware alcohol 120% now works perfectly and doesn't crash. The speed of reading the disc is super fast now. I will test it out and tell you guys whether a sheep 1 burner can successfullly copy it

Ok after doing some tests it seems that my burner is not very good at reading and writing the game using the RAW SAO + SUB.
The installation asks for data4.cab on the second disk, which doesn't exist even on the original disk. However, on my friend's HP writer which is older than mine, he's using to read and write using DAO and installation seems fine now. No CRC errors!

However, i still need the original to play. The no cd crack works but is tedious everytime you have to patch the game.

I hope this info is useful to ppl with sheep 1 burners!
