running Vista, everything sweet untill i installed Alcohol 120, I got blue screen, and it continued to blue screen every boot until i booted from last known good config.

I immediately uninstalled and deleted Alcohol 120.

Now the dvd reads:Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Uninstalled driver & rebooted, still same message [with yellow ! mark on its listing in device manager]

isatap.domain also has ! mark on its listing in device manager.

No dvd movie or game will be read, it simply says please insert media, lights up like normal but nothing registers.

it is a LG HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GSA-4166B ATA

any sugestions/fixes, its not reading anything at all. I can't even reformat in fear of windows disc simply not being read

What version of Alcohol did you install?

version 1.9.2.1705, got from limewire.

Have moved dvdrw to old computer, it works fine.

moved old cdrw to this computer & same problem, driver corrupted or missing.

Have searched net, found nothing.

is i such a common driver noone posts it?

cant reinstall vista as dvd doesnt work

So...

A) You downloaded an illegal version from a P2P source and

B) You installed a version NOT COMPATIBLE WITH VISTA

Sorry, you'll have to figure this one out yourself.

We do not provide any support for illegal versions of Alcohol. If you choose to steal a piece of software then you must live with the consequences.
