Re: VRO files

Probably you should provide some more information. What is the source of the DVD-VR discs? PowerDVD will play them. There shouldn't be any "ripping" required, you can simply copy the files off the disc to your hard drive.

Re: VRO files

i recorded vhs on dvd-r in vr mode with a sony, just stuff off tv.when i have the dvd in the drive i can open it but when i right click it nothing happens.i tried left clicking it then used the menu bar to manualy copy it,noting happened.i tried 'copy to folder' and got error 0x80070570 "the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable".i seem to get the message a lot,not the code, when working with several different dvds which all play in my sony fine.

Re: VRO files

Sounds like you may have some very poorly written discs. Try them in different reading drives, and limit read speed to 1x. Try playing them with PowerDVD, or importing into an authoring or editing program that supports VR.

Re: VRO files

I've been using clonedvd2 to rip DVD+RW VR files. When the ripping starts it says something like correcting format then proceeds just fine. After the rip I then burn to a DVD +- R.

Re: VRO files

well it looks like the answer was under my nose the whole time.Roxio creator basic 9,which came with my computer as a part of the free software bundle can save an image of the disk containing the VRO.files.i dabbled a lil wih roxio but most of the features require an upgrade so i left it alone for now.i can then play the images in WMP11.and compress the files with power archiver.the playback is not perfect but i did it without the "slower"processes.power arch only cut it down to 3gb,so i guess im at least half-way there.alls well that ends well.thanks for all the suggestions.
