Stargate SG-1 DVD Question!

The stargate season 1 on dvd consists of 4 episodes @ 44 min each per disk. How can i compress the whole 7.5 gig dvd to fit on One 4.7 gig dvd? I've tried DVD2ONE but it will only do one episode. I dont want to rip each episode i just want to re-encode the whole thing to fit on a single dvd. If it were a movie it would be easy, but i dont know how to do this one since it has 4 to 5 episodes per dvd.

thanks all.

Thanks for everyones help but I figured it out! I used dvd-decrypter to extract main ifo and all vobs then used ifoedit95 the redo the information then dvd2one to re-encode. I now have the whole 7.5gig dvd on one 4.3gig dvd.

breezy,

What exactly did you do with ifoedit?

How does the disc navigate now? Are the episodes one after another?

Can you give a brief tutorial how to do this with dvd2one.

Thank You

Use dvd-decryter in file mode and it auto selects the ifo and all vobs. then use ifoedit95 click open then click the ifo to open. now goto vob extras click everthing in the left column except re-mux and split. click everything in the right column except for remove IIvu/Angle point. click ok, then choose language and correct ifo tables then stip it. now select all and correct ifo tables and strip it. you should now be left with an ifo that has all episodes as one long movie. chapter point are still there but episodes are one after the other so you would have to skip forward to get to the next episode.

I still need a bit of help...

I am trying to do LEXX S2 V1. It has 4 episodes that I found are...

episode 1

VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB

episode 2

VTS_02_0.IFO
VTS_02_1.VOB
VTS_02_2.VOB

How do I get these together so it is like both episodes something like

VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB

etc... and create a VTS_01_0.IFO

Ok, I found VobEdit v.06 and am playing with it right now. It can joing VOBs but they have to be renamed first like VTS_01_001.VOB, VTS_01_002.VOB etc.

Then I make a new IFO in IFOEdit, transcode in DVD2one and hopefully will work.

Ok, here is what I did - there are 4 episodes but I am only going to list 2 of them here for this example to save a bit of space...

episode 1

VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB

episode 2

VTS_02_0.IFO
VTS_02_1.VOB
VTS_02_2.VOB

Re-name them all to VTS_01_XXX (where XXX starts with 001)

episode 1

VTS_01_001.VOB
VTS_01_002.VOB

episode 2

VTS_01_003.VOB
VTS_01_004.VOB

Note that they all start with VTS_01 (the VTS_02 were renamed).

Load VobEdit. Open the first VTS_01_001.VOB then select Edit, Join Clips. This takes a while and will a make new set of VOBs from the ones above. They will look look VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_3.VOB etc.

Then with IFOEdit you press the create IFO button and create it from the new VOBs - this also takes a while.

Transcode with DVD2one. You end up with a 4.3GB VOB set with all the episodes back-to-back. The chapters are all joined together so you can go through all the episodes with no problem by keep selecting next chapter until it is start of another episode. Ie. if there was 9 chapters per episode, there would be 36 on the new one, presuming 4 episodes.

BTW, around 3.5 hours (4 episodes) on a DVD-5 - ended up looking like crap and I question why I wasted my time figuring this out

all you had to do was rename the TS_02 to 01, anyway your right i found that 3 hrs is pushing the limit. anything over is going to look like "crap".

Thanks for all the info with this thread, u dont understand how useful it has been. Again very important to check the total length before doing this as it could be a waste of time.
