Some Aggrevating Burning Issues! HELP!!

Hello all!

I am happy to come across the forum and site where hopefully I can gain some help on some issues I am having. I have successfully been "backing up" my movies for a while now with little difficulty first using DVD Decrypter, Ifoedit and Nero. Then I discovered an easier route with AnyDvd & CloneDVD2. Everything going well until later on when I decide to finally watch the film.

On numerous occassions the movie will freeze at some point and stop, I have tried them in multiple players and even on my computer and these discs continue to just freeze. Last night I burned a few films and decided I would just fast forward through them and make sure they worked, same thing happened they would freeze. Freashly burned, no scratches no marks, I cleaned them with rubbing alcohol, still nothing. Then I get the stupid Cyclical Error message when I try and copy the files back over to my harddrive, or try to open the disc at all. It is beginning to get very aggrevating. Luckily this is only happening to a few, at least so far, I am in the practice of scanning my whole library and came across another one that has worked fine on many occassions and now is giving me the same crap, again no marks! This doesn't make any sense to me, the only thing I can think of is the discs are just going bad, but none of them are more than a few months old. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Also I have tried using Isobuster to recover the files, but even it stops and tells me it can't read a certain file.

Sounds like bad media to me. What are/have you been using?

Well the last two ones I burned, I burned on 8x Verbatim Dvd-R, I had one full movie on one disc and it froze within 5 minutes. I had another one I split into two discs the first one worked fine, the second disc froze about half way through. Then my other disc that has worked fine on numerous occassions was one of the discs that originally came with my burner.

Have you tried going back to using IfoEdit and Nero? If successful it's obviously something to do with AnyDVD or CloneDVD2. You could also set Nero to verify the data. If you still get the same problems, then likely your burner needs cleaning. If cleaning gives you no joy, you may even need to replace the unit. How old is your burner?

No its the discs because I can get the ones I have trouble with to burn fine on the generic ones I bought from staples. So that tells me it's not the program but the discs.

My Burner is LiteOn. Again I had another one do the same thing to me, worked fine when I scanned through it, then when I went to watch it, it frooze. Very confusing. And as for the firmware, what are you asking in regards too? Another Cyclical Error message, if nothing else does someone know of a program that will allow me to recover the data? Isobuster is not working, again there are no scratches or anything physical wrong.

Re: Some Aggrevating Burning Issues! HELP!!

The firmware controls the functions of the drive and particularly how it burns certain types of media. Lite On is very good at updating it's drives firmware and you can download and install the latest firmware for your drive from the lite on site.

if you have nero installed the info tool will show what your drives current firmware is.
