| Is software required to get the vob/ifo/bup files? I want to make a backup of a movie wich is 4gb, i wonder if i just can select the files on the dvd-rom and then copy them to a map on my harddisk? Or do i have to use a program such as dvd decrypter to really import it succesfully on my hd so they can be burned with for example clonedvd later?

| retail dvd-videos are CSS-encrypted, making it impossible to simply copy the files. u'll need either a ripper like dvd decrypter, or a program that can decrypt dvds on the fly, such as anydvd.
