I don't know if this makes a difference, but I burned the disc in Nero 7 with the booktype set to Automatic.

It says the disc type is still DVD+R DL, but the booktype is DVD-ROM. That means it's successfully set, right?

My standalone player is a Samsung HD870. It's a relatively new HDMI player.

Thanks for any help..

Re: Set DVD+R DL booktype to DVD-ROM: Still won't play

My +R SL and DL are all set to ROM booktype and burns look the same as your ImgBrn info.

I use ImgBrn exclusively to burn.

I have read lots of posts over the years about folks who have had issues with Nero 6 and 7. I have never used Nero to burn +DL, or set booktype. So I can't help too much here, except to rcmnd u use ImgBurn. Never had a coaster SL or DL . I do, however, manually pick the LB in ImgBrn. No good reason, I just do. Obviously ImgBrn will also set booktype 'automatically' once you tell it to for your type of burner.

Questions: Will your standalone play your store bought DVD's? has it been able to play any burned DVD's (SL or DL, booktype set to ROM or not)?
Can you play your burned copy on your PC?
What media did you use?
What was burn rate? BTW: I never burn DL media faster than 4x, I have had marginal issues with some standalone players.

according to videohelp:
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers/...dvd-hd870/8213.

Regards, and keep us posted.

Nero, not recommend for DL burning. Stick with Imgburn. Your TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H652M must by default Booktype + media to DvD-Rom. Because there is not a option in Imgburn for your specific drive to set the booktype you can use Nero's Cd/DvD Speed and you can check the booktype settings with it. Look under the extra and you will find the bitsetting option. As for media, you have chosen Verbatim which is the best you can do.

Nero's Cd/DvD Speed: http://www.cdspeed2000.com/

ImgBurn defaults to DVD-ROM fro that drive and LGs.

Samsung drives are not noted to be the greatest ever produced. Check your firmware is up to date. Also check your player.

That's right ( Brain Fart ), I was not thinking that TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H652M was a Samsung drive, Samsung can be booktyped with ImgBurn

Re: Set DVD+R DL booktype to DVD-ROM: Still won't play

I just burned a disc using CD-DVD Speed and ImgBurn. It didn't work on my new Samsung dvd player. I then used a friend's Sony dvd player (which is 2 years old), and both dvds played fine (the one I burned with nero and the one I burned with Imgburn).

Is there any way I can change the settings on my DVD player to make it read the DVD-Rom bitset disc? I'm really pissed because I just bought this dvd player..It's a new HDMI player so why isn't it compatible?

The movie(s) that you are trying to backup are they from Sony by any chance?
Do the original(s) play on your DvD player?

Re: Set DVD+R DL booktype to DVD-ROM: Still won't play

The movie was made by Universal Studios according to Amazon. The original plays on my dvd player.

I bought the dvd player at Costco so I can return it and get another one, but that would be a pain. And I suspect that since my dvd player is so new, there must be a way for it to work. That's what I'm hoping anyway.

Does the same thing happen with DvD+R's when booktyped to DvD-Rom?
Have you tried another brand of media?
Will the DvD player read DvD-R's?
Can you play your burned copy on your PC?
Did You burn at the 2.4x rated speed or exceeded it and by how much?
Firmware up to date for your burner?

DvD+Rs and DvD+Rs booktyped to DVD-ROM work on my samsung.
Nope, I haven't tried any other media besides verbatim DVD+R DL. But the DVD+Rs are Memorex and they work.

It also reads DVD-rs

The burned copies can play on my pc.

The burn rate was 2.4 or a little under..

The firmware is up to date.

Thanks..
