I have come across a couple of problems on a few dvds. When I burn them and stick them in my dvd player the audio tracks don't go to the default usual selection. One dvd will play the director's commentary and another one I have goes directly to the DTS setting. So to get it to play on the default channel I have to manually change it. Is there a way I can set this before I burn it so it will automatically go to default? In CloneDVD2 it shows my dvd audio startup as Commentary I can't change it though it only allows me to unselect it, which would delete it from the dvd which I don't want to do. Any suggestions? Here are some pics, it shows the four audio settings in the first one, it should be defaulting to the first, yet if you see in the second pic its going to the forth for some reason.



Stream Preferences, how do I change this?

I am using DvDdecryptor and fairuse wizard to backup a dvd to cd size. This particular CD gives me the director's commentary even time even if I try to select an alternative stream in fairuse wizard.

I was using DVD>ISO with DvDdecryptor but with DVD>IFO(?) I can select to remove all but one audio. This is what Im trying now in the hope I can then make DvDdecryptor turn it into an ISO so fair wizard will accept the file type. Or should I look at using some different programs.

I think you need anydvd to keep default settings, as you enter your information there, and there is no way (i have found) to put in your settings (region etc)

@ megtron: hijacking a thread is impolite, get your own! I have no idea what fair use wizard is, but dvd decrypter has no bearing on what streams are copied so your problem must lie with that software.

@ the original poster: are you "preserving menus" on your backups? clonedvd does not have an option to choose what audio stream plays by default upon insertion into your dvd player. sometimes, however, these instructions are embedded in the menu, and the disc gets confused without the menu.

if you have included the menu, have you checked to see if your dvd palyer setup button has any leads? it's possible that the original dvd has some way to force a particular stream to be played and since this "forced" option may not be present on the backup, the palyer defaults to its internal settings.

the last paragraph here is pretty much a stab in the dark, but it's something to look at nonetheless. my best guess is that is has to do with the absence of the menus.

if neither of the above work then hopefully someone else will hop in and give some better advice!

I notice the original post is several months old. But the key to both poster's problems is probably as reasonsnotrules mentioned ... menus have to stay on the backup for the player to receive default audio track information. If info is not received from the backup, the player will make it's own choice of default.

Also, nobody names the movies, DVD release versions, and Region codes that are causing problems. This is important since not all DVD's are authored the same.

arghhh i need to learn to check dates. i didn't even realize that.

as for the person that bumped this thread to the top, since you're using different software altogether, this probably should have warranted its own thread.

so, like i said before, i have no idea what fair use wizard is or how it works. maybe making a thread in this forum with the title of that software program (and version number) in the title would attract forum members that might be familiar with the program.

DVD decrypter's IFO mode is mostly used, as far as i know in conversion to avi files (AGK requires IFO rips) and using this method will probably only complicate your situation even more depending on what fair use wizard can or cannot do...

I am using ISO for the same reason that AGK needs it.

I actually decided to use this program since it claims to use H264 encoding, although not really relevant to my problem.

I seem to remember this problem along time before and I wouldnt be surprised if u searched my post history and found a similar question.

Does anyone have experience of getting "director's comments" in place of the movie audio? Im sure its a common problem, although it doesnt happen with every DvD.

The point is I have tried all the audio streams to encode from the ISO but they all turn out to be the director's comments.

An advantage with fairuse wizzard is that it makes a timing file which it uses to keep the audio and video in sink which was another problem I encountered when I tried this at first a long time ago.

I'm going to combine my response from this post and your recent posts from other thread as your problem warrants a separate thread. Maybe a mod can split the 2 threads and combine into one?

According to AGK (Auto Gordian Knot), it supports up to 2 audio tracks in AVI. If you can't hear sound, that's a totally different issue: you're missing the necessary codec. Check the Official AutoGK FAQ.

This is probably because you select this audio track as the default.

First, get the source correctly. Use Decrypter in IFO mode. Enable Stream Processing. Check the Audio track you want. The first audio track always have the stream id 0x80. If you selected a track that does not have this stream id, then remap it to 0x80 (Direct Stream Copy mode). If you select the second audio track, then remap it to 0x81. Selecting the right audio track is your responsibility. So don't say it plays the director's comments. If you don't know which is which, software player will help. It will list the audio tracks in the same order as Decrypter.

In avi, the first audio track will play first. So put it in the right order in AGK.

I made an IFO but was unsure if it was possible to then make it into an ISO for the program I was using (fairuse wizzard) or AGK. This looks like the next thing to try as I said using fairuse to swap audio streams seemed to have no effect.

No need to create an ISO. AGK accepts IFO as input. Check the FAQ. I'm not familiar with fairuse wizard, so no comment here.
