pondering a problem I back up a lot of my dvds anfd usually have no problems, but this last week every thing I do just does not work. Every copy is pixelated and skips.I've used DVDShrink. and AnyDVD and CloneDVD seperatly and in varios combinations and now not one thing will work. Without going into hardware specifics, what could cause such a problem? I havent changed the discs I use,I have not installed any new software, I scan for virus and spyware everyday and have had no issues. I'm stumped and tired of burning coasters...any help would be a relief.

Re: pondering a problem well without going into hardware specifics we'd really just be making random guesses at your issue. is burning taking longer than usual? check to ensure DMA is enabled for your drive. what is the speed setting for your burns? make sure it's at or only slightly below the rated speed for your media. what burners and firmware do you have? check to make sute you have the latest firmware for your drive. download nero cd-dvd speed and post what the media id is of your media...it could still be poor media even though you haven't changed...brands change manufacturers without warning, and many times a trademark of poor media is wide variability...one day the media will be great, the next the same media ID will suck. so yeah...you will have to get more specific if you want any relevant responses.

Re: pondering a problem sorry for being vague,I'm at work and don't have my specs committed to memory. Burning is at a normal length and DMA is enabled. I generally have burns set at maximum and have a BenQ burner but don't remeber the specifics right now.I post when I get home, just wondering if anyone had some similar problems.Also....is there a possibilty of burning out a drive from heavy use? It's just one possibilty I've considered.

Re: pondering a problem It could be you have come to the end of your burner life or it could be a power supply not doing its job. I found when my PS started acting up both my burner and floppy drive fought me. Could be something else also. Waycoolgal

Re: pondering a problem I have replaced my drive but am still having the same problems. Specs: WinXP Plextor PX-755SA internal serial ATA burner AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor 2 GB of RAM and I've been using DVD Shrink which I cannot get to work any more. It burns discs but they will not play in any of the players that I have.I've also been using CloneDVD2 with some success but all the discs are pixellated. I've used Maxell,Memorex, and generic COMPUSA DVD+R 4X discs and updated my firmware but am still having issues. I try not to burn anything under 60 percent compression and still cannot get a good back-up. What am I doing wrong?
