| ? “28 Days Later” Problems Hi, I finally got 28 Days Later today and as usual I tried to make a copy of just the movie, deleted scenes, and alternate endings for primary use. Unfortunately, it is proving a lot harder than most other movies. The main movie is fine, but the deleted scenes and alternate endings are strange. Most of them are in title two as separate chapters, and one more is in title five as chapter four. In CloneDVD it works fine, but it has poor compression and I cannot set the extras to compress more than the main title. In DVDShrink however, title two is listed as separate chapters and it is not even right (chapter nine is empty and chapter two won’t play). I was really hoping to watch 28 Days and 28 Weeks tonight, but it’ll likely have to wait until the weekend now. I couldn’t find any other threads about this movie here; does that mean that nobody else had this problem? I appreciate any tips. Thanks.

| Re: ? “28 Days Later” Problems Blank the unwanted stuff in VobBlanker - or even still image it in DVD Shrink. What's stopping you watching the DVDs? The player is unlikely to eat them. Regards

| Re: ? “28 Days Later” Problems There are guides to blanking them on the site. Basically, you select the material you do not want, press Blank and Apply. And back in the main screen, press Process. It is very simple really. Try it. Regards

| Re: ? “28 Days Later” Problems It makes DVD Shrink see the titles correctly because the fundamental structure of the DVD is not altered - just the material you have omitted. Regards

| Re: ? “28 Days Later” Problems If your not using a ripper I don't understand how you could be able to see the DVD correctly or work with it? DvdShrink isn't updated anymore, I suggest you try HDDvdFab then do as Blutach suggested. I usually just use DvdShrink after ripping to get the movie only. If you don't remove the copy protection I don't see how you could ever get good results. |

| Re: ? “28 Days Later” Problems I SOLVED IT! ![]() I used a trick that I have used before (but for some reason did not think to use here). I simply ripped the extras to the hd with CloneDVD (which is able to see the titles correctly), then used Shrink to combine the main title from the DVD, with the extras on the hd, so that Shrink did the compression. After CloneDVD processed the extras, it made changes to the structure (well, technically it created new ones) that Shrink could correctly interpret (for the most part, it displayed the chapters that were removed from title 5 as empty).

| Re: ? “28 Days Later” Problems Sounds good. I was wondering if anyone else was having trouble since I could not find any threads about it (although it is five-years-old, and the copy I got is brand-spanking-new). I may end up having to send a copy of the IFOs to SlySoft for examination.

It's region 1 by the way. Putting it in now. Edit: Is this what you get with AnyDVD and Shrink when first loading it up?

Your titleset seems to match mine more or less. Try playing that last Title 2 (continued) in Shrink. It is seen as empty, so that second alternate ending is unavilable in Shrink. Speaking of which, I downloaded AVI copies of the extras for 28 Days Later a year or two ago then I compared them to the ones on the disc yesterday. They all matched except for one: the AVI file labeled “Hospital Dream” is not on my disc, but is fairly similar (many—but not all—shots in common with) the title labeled “Alternative Theatrical Ending” in the disc menu. “Hospital Dream” starts with him being pushed down the hall on a gurney, while “Alternative Theatrical Ending” starts with the text “…what if” then shows a car and a guy in a house while it rains. It has most (not all) of the stuff from “Hospital Dream”, and includes stuff that the latter does not have. “Alternate Theatrical Ending” is 4:24 while “Hospital Dream” is 4:28. What does yours have?

Yup, they’re different pressings (mine says widescreen special edition), and I think that they changed that second alternate ending (I’m betting that yours is the 4:28 “Hospital Dream” version that doesn’t start with the text “…what if”.
