Re: joining avi/divx files?

As suggested VirtualDub is a good app for this.

It's a case of opening part 1, appending part 2 and then on the Video tab, checking Direct Stream Copy & then saving with a new name. If you don't check Direct Stream Copy the video will be saved in uncompressed format taking huge amounts of disk space & taking hours.

Vdub can have problems with some audio streams but that's a different problem.

Re: joining avi/divx files?

so is virtualdub the easiest program to use? I don't what to change any of the audio or compress the video, just join them together to make one file. avi join seemed to do this without any problems, going to try vdub now. When I first open the avi file 1, then click append video file and select the second file it says they have different audio streams.

Re: joining avi/divx files?

To join various avi files with virtualdub, all files must be encoded in the same way. I think that this is true for any software that joins avi files.

You must first correct the audio stream in each avi segment, so they are all the same and can be joined.

Re: joining avi/divx files?

I'm having an identical problem with avi clips I downloaded and attempted to join. How do you correct the audio stream. Do I have to reencode the clip.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, and please be gentle. I'm a noob obviously

If AVIJOIN is working for you, I'd buy it.
