help with downloading movies then burning

ok i'm using limewire to downlaod movies. I was told that once downloaded they need encoding to be able to be burnt onto dvd and played on regular dvd players. I downloaded 3 part files that make up a movie, they were at this point in .avi form. I used zilisoft to encode them then used dvdsanta to convert to dvd, as i was told to do. Then i was told to use virtualdub to join the 3 files into the one movie. However somewhere in the process they seem to have become mpeg files????? which virtualdub says it cant use. I was then told that maybe diko gold could convert them into a useable file but i cant even find a full download for diko gold and the regular diko i have isnt able to do this.

ok so basically i have files i cant join in virtualdub but need to join, any ideas?

Having just looked at the files again it appears they are now vlc media files???? but still come up in virtualdub as mpeg-2 stream???

Does anyone know how i can convert these files back to a form where i can use an editing programme to join them??? or should i just give up and maybe re download them, if i do this what do i do with them when i have them in the original form of .avi files?

I have so many differnet software programmes i have no idea what any of them really does!

I have anydvd, dvdsanta, dvd decrypter, dvd shrink, diko, zilisoft, vlc media player and virtual dub.

If anyone could help i'm be so grateful.

Thanks

going slightly crazy

next time first use virtualdub/virtualdubmod to join *.avi parts, then convert. if you have dvd files, you can join it by vobedit - guide

First off i hope you own the original dvds to the movies you are downloading as its illegal to download or discuss downloading copyrighted movies on these forums

If your files have ended up MPEG2/MPEG then "TMPG DVD AUthor" will join these no problem and also put into VOB files ready to burn to dvd

Makes no sense, why he would download the movies, if he already own the dvd's. He could make safety backups in a better quality from his originals, so there would be no need to download them in mpeg, avi or other file.

Re: help with downloading movies then burning

since the downloading of copyrighted movies isn't specifically mentioned, i'll give the benefit of the doubt and leave this open. why users insist on mentioning that their movie files are downloaded from p2p while requesting help in a forum with rules against piracy is beyond me.
