Re: Free DVD Backup?

DVDFab Decrypter to decrypt to the hard drive and get dvd shrink to transcode and burn using either nero, imgburn or dvd decrypter. There is nothing free to do it all in one step now days.

Re: Free DVD Backup?

Well, it won't be completely free. You have to have a computer, a burner and some blank disks.

Here we go: Download DVDFab Decrypter, found here Download DVDShrink found here Download ImgBurn found here All of these programs are free, no strings attached.

Use DVDFab Decrypter to decrypt and rip the movie to your hard drive. Don't try to go drive to drive unless you just want to have problems.

You can rip just the main movie if you want, or the complete movie.

Lets assume you've ripped just the main movie, and it is still too large to fit onto a dvdr. Open DVDShrink, import the dvd you've just put on the hard drive and let it compress it to fit a regular dvdr. In the options you'll get in Shrink, select output as an ISO.

This will give you an ISO image file that you can now burn in ImgBurn onto your dvd.

Read the guides for Shrink over at mrbass, videohelp.com or here at cdfreaks. Look through some of the guides at the forum for ImgBurn also. Those are two very versatile programs.

And this is just one of several methods you could choose.

Edit: Beaten to the punch by Dr Who But I typed a lot more

Re: Free DVD Backup?

I traditionally use dvddecrypter and dvdshrink, but they may not work on newer protections. I heard good comments about ripit4me, which i guess is free too

I think it will be some time before it will be considered outdated, and then only with the latest $ony titles and perhaps some ripgurd titles.

I am taking into consideration that DVD Shrink can still back up around 80%-85% of the DVD's on the market.
