| DVD X COPY burn error 2nd disk HELP! Hey! LOVE the site. I am not too technical, but can handle your expertise if dumbed down a little. I am not a total loser either! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have a brand new Lite-on 451S dual format DVD RW drive as master drive on cable and a Lite-on 163 DVD drive as the slave. Win XP Pro Have Nero 6.3.0.2 (not sure how relevant that is to my query) DVD X Copy "Gold" most recent update Pinnacle Studio 8.10.4.0 (surely irrelevant--but, someone is sure to complain I am not including enough info!) Using Fuji DVD-R (japan) or Fuji DVD-RW (Singapore) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am sure my computer/memory/HD space is not the problem... OK, here we go: Making my first backup! I place "Finding Nemo" in, DVD X Copy splits files so will make 2 discs with all of the extras included (I am unclear on which files I can remove, so that is fine) I click copy, and then burn, and first disk was fine. Problem is on second disk. Click burn, and within 30 seconds, I get this error message: "Burn Failed! The operation completed successfully" Ahhh, really? Also, in the "burn status" window, the last line after certain things appeared to be loaded, is "generator module closed" ___________________________________________ I first tried this with the "gearworks" option, then the nero option, the advanced tab (something like) "skip directly to disk 2" box... ____________________________________________________ I do not understand, a) How can I get the first disk fine, the second disk not? Is this some read error on the original disk? (it plays fine, and appears to have minimal noticeable wear) or some weird software conflict? b) That error message is somewhat contradictory! What does this mean? c) Is there some work around or issues with the combo of software/hardware that I have that can be remedied? HELP! If you have any knowledge of this, besides telling me I bought a garbage utility, I would be VERY grateful. I am clueless and couldn't be any newer to this particular endeavor. thanks!! |

| Follow up Called 321 studios who make dvd-x-copy, and they say all newer large dual layered disks are having this problem with their sofware, and they said I had to utilize dvd-x-copy xpress! There are files called TDF files that they list for these problem movies that you must download, and combined with using xpress will allow you to backup these movies. However, that means compressing files, and loss of quality (although not TOO much after actually trying this method) Still would be interested in knowing how to NOT compress to backup this film or other newer ones Thanks |
