DVD movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Cannot be ripped

I've tryed to rip the movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse on hard disc with no luck.
I have all the latest versions of AnyDVD, DVDregion+CSS free, DVDdecryptor, DVDshrink, CloneDVD, Nero.... nothing works.
It's a region 1 DVD with Arcoos Protection, brand new with no scratches.
Shring Stucks on 58% of analysing and DVDdecrypter in the begining.
Tried 3 different DVD readers with the same results.

Re: DVD movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Cannot be ripped

In case this comes up in the near future, you may encounter problems backing-up The Bourne Supremicy. If you do this is what I found to be the fix for it,

1. Load DVDShrink and let it analize the Disc
2. In the "Unreferanced Materials" highlight "Title Menus"
3. Under DVD Structure highlight BOURNE_SUPREMACY and uncheck audio streams you do not want, I selected French
4. Under Unreference Material highlight Title Menus
5. Under Compression Settings select No Compression
6. Under DVD Structure hight BOURNE_SUPREMACY again
7. Notice under Compression Settings tab the Video displays Mixed Compression
8. Click on Backup! and the rest you all know

-Neo

P.S I also encountered this type of behavior with "The Punisher

I read this article someone tried this and it worked so try it and let us know if it works ok dude i hope i can help,,,this is remember from someone else im not accepting any credit it if works ok?

Re: DVD movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Cannot be ripped

I am having a problem with Shaun of the Dead. I have no clues about this copy protection stuff. I will try the method u posted with that. It fails with shrink at 2%, but will let me do a re-auther of the movie only. If all else fails that is what I will do.

BTW, this is a brand new disc.

DVDshrink cannot analyse Resident evil2. It always stucks on 58% analysis.

"copy protection based on unreadable sectors" enabled
in combination with Vobblanker

I was always able to analyze mine, but it would only go to 1% in shrink on the encoding and fail. It was stopping on the unreferrenced material (unive rsal stu dios logo with kid jumping). So I just replaced it with a still image and so far encoding done to 23% . I hope it doesn't run into any other protection.

EDIT: It completed for me after doing what I did ^^^.

Re: DVD movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Cannot be ripped

I was able to backup resident evil Apocalypse using a software called "Super DVD Copy" v 1.80.

I also ripped three diferent version to HD one containing fullscreen only another containing widescreen only and the other the full version. Even after ripping them to HD clonedvd still had issues reading the movie but shrink was able to read the files from HD just fine.

Re: DVD movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Cannot be ripped

Not necessarily. It is possible that some new discs have a newer protection and some don't. I had similar problems with DVD Shrink, Any DVD, DVD Decrypter and I have been backing up movies for at least a couple of years. There is definitely something dirty about the new RE: Apocalypse discs (at least some of them).

Re: DVD movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Cannot be ripped

I read from other forums that this is Sony's new protection, same problems you'll most likely to find on their DVD "Small blavck book".

Also read VOBBlanker worked and I will try it after work today.

Re: DVD movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Cannot be ripped

I used Vobblanker then used CloneDVD to do the rest (just pick the directory you saved the files from Vobblanker to instead of the DVD drive).

Re: DVD movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Cannot be ripped

Vobblanker did not work for me when i hit proceed nothing would happen but i used some suggestions from above and now I have a back up copy of RE2.

I used the super dvd copy free trial. I then set it to put the files into a folder and then I chose the option for it to split the dvd. Then I chose the second folder that it created for me which was called disc 2, and used DVDShrink to analyze, encode and copy. Perfect copy!

Re: DVD movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Cannot be ripped

Yeah your right, so far ive been able to copy everything except this movie. I tried DVD Decrypter, AnyDVD and CloneDVD2, even tried DVD Shrink (which in most cases is unnecessary to use) which locks up around 50-59%....with no success. I did noticed that the DVD title name which is listed in the AnyDVD registry does not show for RE: Apocalypse. DVD Decrypter and AnyDVD are gonna need some updates in order to crack this one. All we can do is hope

If anyone finds a solution... Post it please

Re: DVD movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Cannot be ripped

Look at my post. I was using AnyDVD 4.3.0.1 with VobBlanker with default settings. Made my back-up of my purchased movie with no problems

Re: DVD movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Cannot be ripped

Used all of them, followed this thread all day.

VobBlocker and CloneDVD2 worked like a CHARM!! Perfect 100% quality (didn't burn FS version, only WS).

I downloaded VobBlocker from link above and left it default.

Thanks you guys. This is one of the most USEFULL forums on the web. Keep it up

Re: DVD movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Cannot be ripped

I have heard from a friend of mine who is far more advanced at this than me, that you should expect more of this from Columb./TriSt@r , I heard also that another movie which was released today by them called Little Black Book does the same as re2. So if one company has already started then I take it we can expect more companies to do so in the near future.

Re: DVD movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Cannot be ripped

If someone has access to the DVD Decrypter forum (no longer accepting registrations)... there is a DVD Decrypter fix out.

Also if someone could host a download link... I think we all would appreciate it.

Linky....

Right-click the "Attached file DVD_VIDEO.PSL" and save it to your Desktop. Next open up DVD Decrypter, go to "File" then "Protected Sectors List" then "Import". Browse until you find your downloaded DVD_VIDEO.PSL file and click, "OK" and those files will automatically be "gobbled up" by DVDD so when you get ready to rip RE2 it will just slide on through.

I believe you also have to have the media in the drive BTW.

Thx to ScubaPete @ AfterDawn.

Regarding the VOBBlocker solution... I can't play it in either my Plex 708 or LO 166S. Crashes Cyberlink and WMP. Hope the DVDDecrypter solution can get around it.

I wouldn't worry about the whole copy protection issue... someone will always find a way to crack things so you can make legitimate backups.

Bah next thing you know the MPAA will start requiring people to take admission at the door when friends come over to watch a movie. Greedy bastards.
