| DVD Burn Problems w/ Both Nero and RecordNow I have been having nothing but problems trying to burn to a DVD-R (tried different brands, same results). The burn fails before anything is written to the disc. This happens in both RecordNow Max 4.5 and the latest Nero Demo. The DVD will play movies without any problems, it will also write to a DVD-RAM through DirectCD. But burn to a DVD-R, not a chance! ASPI is reported as functional in both ASPICheck and Nero Info Tools. The drive is a Matshita (Panasonic) LD-F311 DVD-RAM/R. Here are the error messages I'm getting. Does anyone have any idea what may be going wrong? I'll try any suggestions. I'd be most obliged... Nero reports the following whe the burn fails... 8:37:34 AM #18 SCSI -1106 File Cdrdrv.cpp, Line 1402 SCSI Exec, HA 2, TA 0, LUN 0, buffer 0x02ED0000 Status: 0x04 (0x01, SCSI_ERR) HA-Status 0x00 (0x00, OK) TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND) Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR) Sense Code: 0x73 Sense Qual: 0x03 CDB Data: 0x2A 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x20 0x00 0x00 0x00 Sense Data: 0x70 0x00 0x03 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x0A 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x73 0x03 8:37:34 AM #19 DVDR -1106 File Writer.cpp, Line 331 Power calibration error 8:37:34 AM #20 Text 0 File ThreadedTransfer.cpp, Line 219 all writers idle, stopping conversion 8:37:34 AM #21 Text 0 File ThreadedTransfer.cpp, Line 213 conversion idle, stopping reader 8:37:34 AM #22 Phase 38 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1653 Burn process failed at 1x (1,380 KB/s) 8:37:34 AM #23 Text 0 File Scsicmd.cpp, Line 406 SCSI not using temporary buffers 20 out of 20 temporary buffers allocated RecordNow Max reports as follows when it fails to burn... | hope this helps... have you all determined what part of the IDE chain the DVD is on? not trying to be a smarty but most DVD's writes like to be on the SECONDARY IDE, and by themselves. Addon ATA controllers such as Siig and maxtor seem to give problems to certain drives. Your problem sounds like an underrun problem, which (just a guess) means you have either an IDE chain problem, or driver problem, or a version (firmware)problem. Try moving your DVD writer to another location. You don't need to worry about the media so much, just make sure it only burns at 1X. then if your successful go from there....just another option. |

| Re: DVD Burn Problems w/ Both Nero and RecordNow The problem is the firmware, there is some firmware around that solves the problem, unfortunetely I can't remember whre, I had the same problembefore, updated the firmware and I could use any blank media. My drivers went corrup two days ago, so I am back to square one. I will let you know if i can find the drivers again |

| Re: DVD Burn Problems w/ Both Nero and RecordNow Hi I have a similar problem in the burner will not burn DVDs but will play dvds and play and burn CDs. It is not the burner for it works in another machine. It is not the media for it burns in same burner in another machine. It is not the burning software - have tried Nero / Record Now / Deep Burner. It also will not erase a DVD RW. I believe it is driver/ XP related This is what I notice while trying to burn or erase - the burn light does not come on while trying to burn or erase - it is near the end of the burn that it fails - when trying to erase it takes a long time to erase and then kicks out the disc and it still has the same files on it. Thanks for your help |
