Copy Protection Causing Odd Porblems?

Hi all!,

Little new here if this is the wrong catagory i appolize dont i know where else to put this.
1.A big concern of mine is that newer protections are cuasing increased problems in playback (coppied or not) please tell me this is true ie: sound loud the goes very quiet (mostly water effects in "the cave") at least on freeze point mid point through movie (is that "layer break") Please tell me this is proctecion issues and not my dvd player (see i have one of those dandy sony 400 disc dvd players that i DO NOT want to replace)

2. Having problems copying
a: The Cave Only half of the Cave will burn....(roughly 2gigs)
b: lords of Dogtown getting read errors and cant even make a .iso to HD....was also to get .vbo files (3 main parts) but dont know how to create a playable dvd with only those 3 files
(ive read the prev posts but i must be missing something...)
Ive tried the lasted Anydvd/ Clonedvd and Dvd Decrypt/DVD Shrink and DVDfab just sucks (my opinion)
Also updated firmware ide drivers etc (like that will help)
I dont have the log but i can get those at a later time (not at home)
ALSO, please dont ask me if dvds are scratched or read errors (3 diff originals on dogtown 3 different drives, same thing with "the Cave" except 2 diff originals)
Anywho please remember i have more that one concern, so dont get too carried away on only one of the issues....

Re: Copy Protection Causing Odd Porblems?

The main new protection is called Arcoss which those DVD's have. The protection does not affect playback when playing the original discs. If there was then a lot of people would be affected.

You need to get round the Arcoss when backing up. There is DVDFAB Decrypter which is separate from DVDFAB and is like a newer version of DVD Decrypter that can handle more Arcoss DVD's.

To rip The Cave. Save the following as a text file called thecave.psl. Then import into DVD Decrypter using File - Protected Sector List -Import.

To rip Lord of Dogtown. Save the following as a text file like something like dogtown.psl. Import into DVD Decrypter and re-rip again.

If you want to do your own psl files. You need Pgcedit and PSL plugin. It creates PSL files for ripping with DVD Decrypter.

Re: Copy Protection Causing Odd Porblems?

To start easy, you may want to get the latest AnyDVD 5.7.3.1 trial and DVD Shrink. Run AnyDVD at the same time as Shink and see if it can read those two DVD's.

Re: Copy Protection Causing Odd Porblems?

DVDFab Decrypter or AnyDVD will handle those titles fine, but the latest version of AnyDVD is needed for the Cave.
