Copy Movie Discuss, Backing up the 6 channel audio only. Is that ok? at International Chat: Software related forum; I always choose to remove all the audio tracks except for the 6 channel. Is there anything wrong with doing it this way? If there is space I do select the 2 channel also, but most of the time I end up with just the 6 channel. Any reason why

Backing up the 6 channel audio only. Is that ok?

Just want to make sure that only keeping the 6 channel track isn't something I will regret later.

Re: Backing up the 6 channel audio only. Is that ok?

Nope...I also copy only AC 3/6. This format will also work with mono, stereo, Dolby Pro Logic, and Dolby Digital. DTS will only work if you have a DTS decoder.

With some older movies, you may see AC 3/2 or Dolby single channel (like the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly).

Yes, it is absolutely ok. It is the best choice. Players can downmix six channel audio (exception is DTS in case of some players).

Ok..I thought it was fine to do it this way. I've never had a problem at least.
